It was my own fault that I booked 3 nights at a hotel at Perrache railway station, when I really wanted Part Dieu station.
The good; the whole place was very fresh and modern looking, with a lot of colour. The room clean, and sparking. The bathroom similarly up to date. The wifi worked fine. The staff friendly and helpful..except when it came to trying to check in early. The breakfast looked good, but we didn't get a chance to eat in the hotel.
The location has a reputation of being seedy, but we didn't experience any evidence of trouble in spite of going to and from the station quite late at night.
The hotel is about 50 metres from from one of the main transport hubs in Lyon covering trains, metro, trams and buses. However, you did need to catch the metro or tram to get to the historical and shopping part of the city.
It's also next door to one of the famous Lyon eateries, Brasserie George. It's worth trying because it's great fun, and it's mostly locals who eat there.
The not so good; the room (on the first floor) was quite small (but manageable), but given the warm weather when we were there, it was stiflingly hot. Open a window and get some fresh air, and the noise from the Autoroute and elsewhere was a killer. Close the window, and broil slowly.
Also, a minor niggle was that I booked at their rack rate, and they were having big price reductions, but wouldn't allow a change. Their call, but an offer would have been nice.
