“An amazing museum!!”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

The museum of Textiles and Decorative Arts is a magnificent museum. It’s actually two museums, one containing furniture and objects of art, and the other containing fabrics and garments. The building itself was an 18th century private residence. The Decorative Arts part contains wonderful furniture, silk woven tapestries, paintings, an array of clocks and objects of everyday use from the 15th century onwards.
The Textile Museum, displays in an amazing way the historic progress of fabrics across the centuries in Western and Eastern Europe. Tapestries and carpets from Byzantium and Asia minor, vestments from Italy and France. It also shows the history of silk production, and the unique craftsmanship and design in Lyon through the royal dresses of 18th and 19th century.
It is absolutely recommended.

“Nice museum. Bit to highly priced”
Reviewed 14 November 2013

This attraction is actually 2museums and the furniture museum closes over lunch. The textile section is ok but the furniture section was better with a lot of antique furniture.english translation is minimal but it is a bit expensive at 10 euros

“The name says it all”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

This is the kind of place where you know in advance if you're going to like it or not. I visited back in June 2011 on a rainy day with my family and absolutely loved it. We pretty much had the museum to ourselves. Would love to visit again.

“One of the best in the world”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

I had read that this was one of the best textile museums in the world and was not disappointed, although only a fraction of the collection is on display. It had a fantastic traveling exhibit when I was there. Don't miss the decorative arts museum attached.
