Owner description: A remnant from the era of dominance of the Roman Empire, the ruins of these two amphitheaters are over 2,000 years old.

The Roman theater is well preserved. It is still used for performances. We were also impressed with the museum which you can visit before or after wandering around the ruins. We entered the museum from the upper area. The entrance was free. The museum explains the Roman history of Lyon. I liked the layout which was basically a platform leading down to the theater. It was handicap friendly. Also, the display of ancient items was not crowded and arranged so that they could each be appreciated.

I recommend this museum if you want to know more about the history of Lyon.

Close to the cathedral, so walk over if you have never seen an amphitheater. If you have, no need to bother, as it has been heavily restored.

It was certainly interesting to visit these ruins. Unfortunately they are a bit of a walk and if it's raining (like it was when we were there) There is a museum adjacent to the ruins which would probably be a better call if rain or snow are expected.

This is great place, it costs nothing and you are free to walk around where you want. As well as being historical it is also a venue for open air concerts.

The roman ruins are impressive. The ampitheatre is great to view from above. The sight is retained in great condition and well catelogued.
The view from the top over the city of Lyon is just glorious.
