“Good value for money!”
Reviewed 7 July 2012

Stayed in this hotel for a short shopping trip to Lyon.

The room was very comfortable and newly refurbished, the bed was amazing and really big!

The location is right up the road from La Part Dieu Shopping mall, which is brilliant!

Would definitely stay there again if i had to go back to Lyon!

Good central location in Lyon, staff very helpful but just too few of them (long queue to checkout with just one pleasant and helpful receptionist). We paid extra for a newly refurbished "Privilege" room. The bed was good but the rest was poor: uncomfortable, silly departure-lounge style chairs; no useful surface to work on; electrical sockets oddly placed; two large wardrobes but only one half of one of them equipped with a little rail and 5 coat-hangers, the other being just a big empty void. Tiny bathroom, little room to move. Gave up trying to use the feeble WiFi. All very obviously the result of corporate design concepts and cost-optimisation.

We stayed in the Mecure Saxe Lafayette for two nights and everything was beyond our expectations. We got the twin room with double beds and they really comfortable and the room was larger than typical hotels! The hotel was immaculate and for the price we thought it was exceptional value. Staff were friendly and one was an Aussie so that was a bonus!

The location is close and easy to find from the train station. 10 minutes walk to the centre of town.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights... We liked the new room, the very comfortable bed, nice big TV, the kettle to boil water very useful, the little fridge, the rain shower... The location is also very good, near a big shopping mall and about 15 minute walk to downtown Lyon...walking or running by the Rhone is also great...we tried a restaurant close by, the Val d'Isere which was very good with regional cuisine....we liked a little less the lack of soundproof through the door...you hear everything coming from the corridor ,not good if you're a light sleeper...a second door after the bathroom door (like a lot of hotel rooms have) would have been a plus... Did not have breakfast or room service, but the menu seemed nice...

Room Tip: Try to stay away from the elevators if you are a light sleeper!

Stayed for one night after a long day driving from England. Was nice to have such a clean comfortable hotel for the night. We needed to park the car and the price for hotel parking was quite reasonable. The receptionist was very polite and helpful, giving us a map and pointing out where to go for dinner- we were able to make the most of our one night in the great city.

I think we were the first people to stay in our hotel room. It smelled like new carpet and paint. My husband had to tighten the nut on the shower so it didn't spray all over. Then he yelped....with glee. He looked up in the shower and there was about a 15" square plate shower head, with dozens of holes. He was thrilled.

The rooms are very modern and comfortable. The hotel is located in the businees district, but there was an amazing indoor Paul Bocuse food stall market, a little less than 2 blocks away. Beautiful stuff, pate's, pastry's, meats, vegs, you name it. It makes Whole Foods look sad. There was also a small neighborhood market across the street, with great wine buys. We got a very nice wine for 1.9 euro.

We were on a tour and this was our first Mercure stop, with several to follow, all nice by the way.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, breakfast in the dining room was some of the best of the trip.

The sign outside listed the price at 149 euro per night, roughly 200$ US. Every hotel we stayed in, including ones we booked for side trips, were all about $200 per night. Seemed fair to us.
