Sofitel Bellecour
A very comfortable quiet hotel in a convenient location for exploring the center of Lyon. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Our reservation was for the wrong dates but they found us a room and gave us a reduced rate. Emylie at reception was especially helpful in many ways, was very friendly, and took interest in our welfare. The location on the Rhone is beautiful. The beds are very comfortable and shutters darken the rooms for sleeping. Free WiFi, unsecured. Minibar in room is free which is a nice touch. It is worthwhile to book the breakfast included rate because the buffet is very good, but expensive if paid for separately and there are not places nearby to find that meal. The view whle eating breakfast is spectacular! We had a light meal at the Brasserie Silk and it was good. It would be nice if there were some drawers for clothing, and only a small number of hangars is provided, but I won't downgrade for that!.

Room Tip: Rooms on the sides and back are super quiet. Rooms on the Rhone are also on a main highway so thre c...

This is at the heart of Lyon. Modern Hotel with friendly staff. Room as very comfortable but the bathroom is bit smaller. Mini Bar is free with non-alcoholic drinks and the best part is the room had a BOSE system with an iPod docking station. Ordered room service and the food was also excellent.

We stayed in a remodeled room which was a decent size for Europe and had a wonderful bathroom. The room wasn't exciting, but was comfortable with plenty of room for the 2 of us, including a table with 2 chairs by the window. Love the shower - large, stone, multi-headed shower plus a rain head & hand held. Hermes toiletries are a treat. Bathroom was large and really nice.

A block off Place Bellecour, this is easy walking distance to the historic old town and the best shopping district in the city. Also, your just a couple short blocks from many good restaurants and bakeries (a key to Lyon, of course).

In many ways, this hotel with its lovely lobby and good sized rooms deserves 5 stars, but little faults took away. Much of the front desk staff was helpful, but the concierge inconsistent. Small requests (like having ice brought to the room) were forgotten, and soap not always replaced. I know these are picky, but, given the cost & level of service Sofitel represents, I'd expect a bit more.

I do recommend this hotel for your Lyon stay - especially if you can get a good on-line deal.

Room Tip: Make sure to check different hotel sites, as sometimes they're cheaper than Accor's own site...

This hotel is centrally located only a few minutes walk from shops, restaurants and other attractions. The staff and concierge were professional and attentive. The lobby, although not grand, has attractive modern decor. The eighth floor dining room has a magnificent view over the city and provides an excellent breakfast that is well worth having. We had an Executive King room overlooking the Rhone, which was quite spacious with pleasant furnishings.
On the downside however our bathroom had no separate shower compartment, the fixtures were old and there was a crack and chips in the dated floor tiles. The carpet was worn and grimy, needing replacement or at least a shampoo. The air conditioning is virtually non existent. We had it on maximum all the time and the room still felt like an oven. We would probably not stay here again.

The staff here are wonderful. As we were staying on our honeymoon they sent us up a welcome platter of sweets. We also had an issue with our hire car which the concierge kindly resolved for us.

The room was lovely with a very comfy bed and lots of white linen and an enormous shower with great pressure. The lifts were a but slow/ confused and apparently there was a pool but it was out of order. The view from the upstairs bar is amazing and they have iPad menus which was pretty cool. Breakkie was lovely too and we enjoyed looking out at Lyon and up to the church on the hill.

It was a little way from the main sights but we enjoyed the walk especially given all the great food in Lyon!

Would definitely stay again if given the chance.
