Been staying here a couple of times for work trips and I enjoy my stays. The rooms are small but adequate as well as clean. The restaurant and breakfast is not bad either. The standard is in the low side but quite average in France I would say.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this place can be a bit hard to find first time. Having to pass through the Metro station, permeated with a smell of dope, was a bit dodgy, but we never felt unsafe, no matter the time of day. Other than that it's a good location both for walking around central Lyon, and for longer rides with public transportation.

We had booked an executive suite, with a big bathroom, huge bedroom, smal sitting room and a tiny second bathroom. A bit worn down, very firm mattress, only BBC News in English on the TV. Staff excellent, especially room and maid service. I don't think the place had many other guests during our stay between christmas and new year.

Although old and a bit out of place, we've been here before, and will likely come again. We really enjoy the architecture and ambience of the rooms. Somewhere between Average and Very good. ;)

Room Tip: The executive rooms are huge, and well worth the small extra cost.

The hotel is an old castle and probably had better days. It`s sad to see how decadent it is. The beautiful paintings on the restaurant walls are fading because of the humidity, the painting of the corridor walls and the outside facade are in a very bad condition. It was difficult to open the room doors due to the many paint layers on them. So we couldn`t avoid to feel it was worn and a little scary. Inside the room things were better. It was comfortable, the bed was really good and it seemed newly decorated. The bathroom was ok too. Breakfast is good but never ask for the express breakfast because you will have only a small piece of bread with butter, a small glass of orange juice and a cup of coffee. It`s not worth it!
The location is perfect if you are traveling by train since it is literally located right next to the Gare de Lyon Perrache (Train Station), where you can take the metro and have a snack in one of the many cafeterias that are open until about 8 pm. Next to the Gare, stay all the major car rental offices.
Otherwise, the location isn`t good if you arrive by car because nowadays the hotel is surrounded by many viaducts, overpasses and tunnels and even the two GPS we had couldn`t show us the correct path. By the way, the garage costs 18 euros for one day.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, and can speak fluent English ( excellent if you cannot speak French). It stays in a walking distance to the sights if you really enjoy walking.

Perfect location if you are traveling by train. Few steps fron Gare de Lyon Train Station. The hotel is an old castle that scares you at first sight. Rooms are simple and clean, maybe a little small but enough for two. The best of the hotel is its staff. Very friendly and atentive. Breakfast is very good.

Had a great time in Lyon and enjoyed the character of the hotel and our large room. Staff were helpful and friendly and breakfasts enjoyable in lovely surroundings. We arrived at Perrache station from Part Dieu and although we could see the hotel from the Perrache complex, spent some time figuring out how to access that level. Once resolved, it was easy!
Also, Perrache trains connect on a very regular basis to the main TGV station - Part Dieu. This is also a definite plus as one can walk to trains.

The location is great since it is literally located right next to the train station, walking time was 1 minute. Staff was very helpful and friendly, and can speak fluent English (which is excellent if you cannot speak French). Room was really big and clean, and bed was really comfortable. Bathroom was clean and roomy was well. One minor note is that it was difficult to take the shower without splashing water out of the tub since there was no shower curtain. Loved the antique feel to the hotel, and it did not feel worn-down at all. We were facing inside of the hotel so we didn't hear any traffic noise. Taking transportation was easy, and if you enjoy walking it is a great option to the sights as well.
