Was visiting a friend who lives fairly close to this hotel. I had already stayed there before and knew it was really close to the train station and airport shuttle which is nice. Same staff as before, welcoming and kind. Breakfast was average, nothing to write home about really. However, one major difference with my previous stay was the room. I didn't remember it being so cold even though we were supposed to be in summer. I litterally froze my butt for an entire night and woke up with a cold. No heating, and just one blanket. thank god, I ran into the cleaning lady the next morning and ask for another blanket which she indeed left in the room. Greatly appreciated. I guess the n°1 advantage of this hotel is its location if you're travelling by train. I doubt I'll go back there again though unless I come across some major discounts.

Overall it is very good value for money, you got what you pay for. would stay here again.

Room : standard ibis room, clean, nice, equipped with standard amenities.

Location : there are two ibis hotels, this one is nearer to the train station (5 minute walk). In a good neighbourhood. there are some restaurants nearby.

value for money : can be very cheap if booking in advance.

service : free wifi, staff is helpful, breakfast is good.

Perfect location if you need a stop over before getting back on train as it is walking distance to the Part Dieu train station and half hour walk (for fast walkers) to the old town.
Book at least a month in advance through their website for better deals. Specify you want a non smoking room. They have a policy to satisfy any query within 15 minutes if you have any issue whilst staying with them. So don't hesitate to tell them if something is not right.
Rooms are small but practical and clean. The staff was very helpful.
I wouldn't stay there for a special week end break but great place for a night stop over.
Note that we found it hard to find the place following the signs at the Part Dieu station. It is confusing as they send you through the shopping centre which is unpractical if you have a lot of suitcases. There is an easier way so plan in advance.

Nice hotel, very near to the station. The English proficiency of the staff is poor. I understand that France is a country where English is not widely spoken. But atleast people at the front desk should be a little more proficient.
An incident : We went to the front desk for asking for a breakfast coupon. First she thought we want to check out. Then after some time she issued the the ticket. But when we returned for our room. Our key cards stopped working. Probably she DID checked us out. After a long session of explanation she gave access to our cards. I would definitely blame on the language barrier.
Nevertheless, it was a nice and cozy hotel. And with the quoted rate for the night of Festival of Lights, it was a steal!

the room was badly stenched with cigarette smoke.
The shock was to discover a ashtray in the toilet filled with cigarette ash still there upon our check in.

Very VERY dissapointed. I was under the impression the hotel has a no-smoking policy but then again - i might be wrong.

Ibis is good quality, but only good value on weekends when they reduce their rates
close to TGV rail station Lyon Part Dieu, but a 20 minute or more walk into the heart of the city, so better for business
