“Nice hotel, well located for Central Lyon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 November 2013

I stay at this hotel fairly regularly on business . Staff are always helpful, rooms in the annexe ( higher levels preferably) are a good size and well appointed. They overlook a square and attractive old church. No noise problems in the annexe. Breakfast is typical continental buffet style and I find it pretty good. It is an easy walk to the town centre for meals etc. Brasserie George (recommended if you like the large Paris style brasseries with very busy waiters in white aprons ) is about a 5 minute walk. Place Bellecourt is a 15 minute walk.

Room Tip: Choose the annexe and a room in 4th floor or higher.

The hotel looked lovely when we arrived, and our room was ok although a bit small. Had to ask for tea and coffee tray for our room, but was impossible to get milk!!! Staff were friendly though on the whole. It didn't cost too much through booking.com. Very convenient for the trains and town centre.

We got this as a mystery hotel deal and only paid €110 for 2 nights! The staff were so friendly, the room was small but it was clean and comfortable and the hotel was a nice walk into the centre of town! We really enjoyed walking from the hotel for delicious French meals and the staff even told us the best place to get bread and cheese for the picnic lunch we took up to notre dame basilica! Parking was a short walk away but it was very secure (codes needed to access the parking by foot etc). I wouldn't want to be walking through the station from the town centre on my own at night though!
We were pleasantly surprised by our mystery hotel, would definitely stay there again'

Room Tip: Standard room has a double bed, quite small if you're used to queen sized

This hotel was lovely. The "superieur" room was very nice with a balcony overlooking the garden (terrace) area. It was large enough and very clean and included toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities! The bed was very comfortable and the tv had two English language news channels. The toilet was strangely separate from the shower/bath room and was a bit tight but adequate.
The breakfast was not included in our package (through Eurostar) but we took it on the first day. Curously there was no check by the staff but we had to admit on leaving the hotel how many breakfasts we had taken! The breakfast itself was good and include hot and cold options.
The room did not have a fridge or minibar, which we would have liked. The public areas were very good indeed with computer facilities and beautiful garden/terrace areas. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
The area was not beautiful in itself and did nor compare with the centre od Lyon but was not at all intimidating. Anyone who thinks so should try Marseille. I asked the waitress about the dodgy reputation of the area and she said it was because there were numerous prostitutes plying there trade. This is not a recommendation! There was a good "Casino" shop within 20 metres where alcohol food etc could be bought from a friendly manager and his staff.
The T1 tram stop is only 100 metres away and takes you to Part Dieu station in 15 minutes at any time of the day for 1.70 euros (tickets available in the hotel).
It is very close to Perrache station and within a 20 minute walk of the place Bellecourt where the Office de Tourism lies.
We would not hesitate to use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for a "superieur" room at a small extra cost.

We chose this based in Trip Asvisor recommendations and we had a mixed view. We stayed in a superior room which was quite nice but the toilet was literally in a closet. Having the door closed was a very uncomfortable experience.

The fact that the hotel was split in two halves was also a bit confusing. They need to update the lift in the second half of the hotel as it is too small.

Having said that our room was lovely, restaurant was great and the staff friendly.
