“Outstanding park and zoo with plenty for all the family”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

I spent around 3 hours here on a particularly nice day and found plenty for all ages for a future visit. THe park is well designed and has a range of activities such as a free zoo, boating area, crazy golf. Amusements, nature trails and botanical gardens. Around 20 mins walk from the bus and train station.

“Green, plenty of space and a free zoo”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

Cycle up along the river to the north to get to the park.
Nice park with large open spaces and a free zoo.

You can rent boats to cross the lake.

“a place where to restore yourself”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

The park area in rather big and you can find a set of glasshouses with a lot of exotic trees, flowers, etc that is very nice; there is also a zoo and both attractions are for free.
But the suggestion is to bring some food with you and to have a relaxing pic-nic in the park.
There is a magic atmosphere that is unique to relax

“Great trip outside the city centre itself”

Beautiful park, well worth a visit. We hired some bikes from just outside the gate and had a lovely ride right around the whole park.

“One of the best...”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

One of the best city parks I have been to.
Parc de la Tete d'Or is completely man made, in the sense that it was planned and created-the park opened in 1857
The park is in many ways like a smaller version of Central Park, on Manhattan. Man made, with large lakes, and lots of attractions and activities.
Apart from a variety of botanical habitat, lawns, pine wood, rose gardens etc. Park Tete d'Or houses a botanical garden, greenhouses, a small but first class zoo, a velodrome(bicycle racing track)
In the summertime you can rent boats on the large lake, ride horses, play mini golf or boule, even ride on the miniature train.
Of course there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and resting places in general.
Most activities are free.
If you are in Lyon-don't miss
but be aware, on a nice summers day, the park will be full of locals.
