Owner description: The Museum of Contemporary Art, designed by Renzo Piano, is located near the Tête d'Or park, at the Cité Internationale. From its creation, the museum has opted for an original acquistions policy of temporary exhibitions, developed in direct relation with the artists or from works in their collection.Whether for a Roller Coaster by the artist, Cai Guo-Qiang, a “Crying Wall” by Ann Hamilton, or a Salt Water Pool by Mathieu Briand, the museum transforms itself for each artistic project and thus offers a completely different visit every time. This means that the museum closes for short durations between each exhibition.

“Check the website before visiting”

The exhibitions change every few months. Check that what's on 'now' appeals before setting off. This winter's soundscape installations, for example, may not be your thing. The café/restaurant however is perfectly placed for lunch before/after a walk in the Parc de la Tête d'Or across the road.

“Great space - exhibitions that challenge”
Reviewed 12 December 2012

I enjoyed this exhibition space and the imaginative way they presented the current Cage/Satie experience.

“Sometimes great”
Reviewed 30 August 2012

Check what they are showing. It can be a real find or a dog. You can combine it with a picnic in the parc tete d'or or a walk along the river.

“Not worth the trip”
Reviewed 18 July 2012

There only one artist represented so if you don't like so much you are screwed. I found it to agressive but it is a matter of taste.

“Exhibition Robert Combas”
Reviewed 8 March 2012

We got in to the new exhibition for a 'sneak preview' prior to the opening in February. The museum is fantastic and makes a nice end to a stroll through the Parc de la Tête d'Or as it is located just outside the park. it is also easy to access via buses C1, C4, and C5 or driving with plenty of parking at the Cité Internationale. It is open Wed-Fri until 18:00, Sat-Sun until 17:00. Full admission rate is €8. Great little café facing the park and nice bookstore.

The new exhibition is really interesting. Robert Combas declares his art is 'rock and roll' and after seeing it, I understand what that means.
