I was taken to the Lumiere Institute and Museum without really knowing much about the Lumiere Brothers. It really was a thoroughly enjoyable peek into their lives and homes. Not being from France, the museum definitely helped illustrate to me why film is so ingrained in the National culture. I should have sprung for the audio guide - all the displays are in French only.

Really enjoyed this well laid out museum. Entry was free with the City Card but we paid 3 euros for the audio tour and it was definitely worth it. Very interesting

the house is very impressive. the collection is organized in a didatic, well presented way so even young children get to know how cinema and movies got started. It is not a long visit and it got like 2 hours top to see everithing. you can go by subway.

We only had a couple of hours to see something around Lyon, so together with a couple of my friends we decided to emerge ourselves into old photo- and film industry history, so we visited the Lumiere brothers museum - which was actually their house: one room is even preserved in the way of how it was used.

For a small fee of 5 euros we got into an old house with plenty of exhibits, moving pictures, historical items and articles, examples of the process of how inventions worked. Great time spent for a fan of photography, and film industry, of course.

Nice collection of old movie equipment, and a well documented guided tour through the early days of cinema in France.
