My husband I stayed here last month. It was a last minute booking due to the rearranging of our travel schedule. We paid the extra 10 euro for the Chambre De Charme. Which I assume is because they are newly renovated. We had a wonderful room overlooking the park and street. The bed was comfy, large room, free wifi, breakfast included. The staff were very friendly and tried their best to speak in english. For the 79 Euro per night, it was definitely worth it!

The Hotel Bayard Bellecour is in an excellent location and right across the road from the tourist office. Also the the first stop for the "hop on/off" tour bus is right out the front, which was handy.

Just a word of warning - the triple/family rooms are very VERY basic. Not that clean and kind of had a moldy smell.

Our room (number 15) also seemed to be used for storage!

Parts of the wall looked like it was picked at.

Bed was horrible.

Shower was broken and bathroom ended up a tad wet!

The other rooms at the front looked nice - but the room we stayed in was at the back - had to lug a suitcase thru the kitchen and up some stairs that you could almost fall down.

breakfast was very simple.

Stayed here in mid-March, and was wonderfully surprised. Hotel is centrally location on Place Bellecour square; A brief 5 minute walk to Cathédrale St-Jean (across bridge); or to the pedestrian only Republique street for cafes and shopping; or to the river frontage and subway.

Staff was fluent in English and very helpful with directions and suggestions.

Breakfast was sparse (Coffee, juice, croissant and baguette).
Free wi-fi access.

Room appeared to be recently renovated; bathroom was nicely appointed; water pressure was excellent.

No on-street parking nearby; Parking garage (fee) was available at sister hotel 'Alexandra' on Victor Hugo street, which is 10 minute walk away.

After 10pm, entry requires cypher code to enter building, as property is unstaffed after this time.

The central location in Lyon is great, across from the main square and near the subway. The hotel itself is in an odd spot in an old office building, up a long flight of stone stairs from the street. To reach our family room, one also goes through the kitchen and a utility entrance, and must navigate a dank set of steps. But the room was large and clean, and adequate and affordable for a one-night stay.
