“That should be the Number 1 tripadvisor “attraction””
Reviewed 1 August 2014

Really, it should be in the top position in order all tourists to start their days in Lyon from this point. I was so fortunate to be served by the smiley Presca … apologies if I do not recall her name correctly … I have kept it in mind the resemblance to the spelling of Prescious … as was her advice. Issued for me a three days Lyon card which included free city transport with all means and free entrance in most attractions. She booked for me at no extra cost, a guided 2hours tour in English for the old city on Friday and since all other were fully booked for Sunday, she provided the self-audio guide for a stroll on my own on the new part of the city. She also booked on the phone a puppets show and gave me instructions on how to reach the hilltop cathedral, the roman amphitheaters & museum PLUS the river cruise at night. All these were inclusive in the 42EUR of the city card. But it is not only the value for money … it is the genuinely caring attitude to organize your stay in the optimal way, including dining and drinking suggested locations. Million Thanks!!!

“Great bus”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We purchased a two day pass for the hop on hop off bus to save our feet after so much walking around in other cities. Frustratingly this bus does not go very close to the new confluence area of the parc de la tete. Otherwise well worth the money.

“Hire an Audioguide for the day”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

You can hire an Audioguide in English for the day for 10 euroes - and go at your own pace visiting the parts of the city. Also buy a one day pass for the metro/tram bus - which includes the trip on the funicular up to the Church.

“Lyon - Illumination Feast”
Reviewed 24 December 2013

We docked at Lyon on Dec 7, just in time to be part of the crowds that swell the million inhabitant city to three or four times its size for the Feast of the Illumination. The light shows, gigantic ferris wheel in the main square, the pedestrian zone that goes through the peninsula between the Rhone and Soane, the fireworks, the Christmas lights were bolstered by the tradition 'illumination'. A candle was to be lighted in each window in gratitude to the Virgin Mary for saving the city from the invasion of the Prussian army. Walking along the river banks, even in the frigid weather of this early December, there were thousands of candles to see on window sills. And literally, there were millions of people gaily tromping along with family and friends through the mile or so of displays. Spectacular two night event.
