“Basic hotel for short stay”
Reviewed 11 August 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights. Basic hotel with comfortable bed. Seem like the rate is cheaper over the weekend. Pls take note there's no kettle in the room. We were looking for a kettle to boil water but was not able to find it. TV is pretty small with the current standard. Location is good as it's very near Gare de Lyon-Perrache which has train service to Paris.

Nice and clean. Reasonably priced room through booking.com. Okayish location (20 mins walk to the old town and sites). Wi-Fi was good and free and the staff were nice enough. However, despite there being menus proudly boasting of food and drink available 24 hours, the girl at the reception refused to serve us two glasses of wine at around midnight. 2 glasses of wine is not a big ask if there are menus everywhere offering it. There was no explanation other than "the bar is closed". Fine. The bar might be closed but I didn't want the drinks at the bar. I wanted them in the room and there are leaflets/menus everywhere saying that this service is offered 24 hours. It leads me to believe that the reason for this is pure laziness from an otherwise nice and polite member of staff.

Positives were that the hotel was very clean, the bed was comfy and the room was a decent size (maybe not for Americans, but I'm European so thought it was fine). Brasserie Georges next door is great and worth a visit for the art deco interior alone. The new Confluence district in the old docklands is near by, we enjoyed the walk along the river there. The hotel is also near Place Bellcour, and you can catch the tram from Perrache station pretty much anywhere in town.

The hotel's location was strange as it is separated from The 2nd and 1st Arrondissments by a flyover which cannot be crossed on foot. You have to go through Perrache station to get to the hotel, late at night I wouldn't have done this trip on my own but I was with my boyfriend so it was fine. Worth noting that I've been to Lyon a couple of times now and there were more homeless people and drugged / drunk people in Place Carnot than I've ever seen before, quite sad to see really.

We forgot our toothpaste, we asked at reception if they had any or if he knew (in French so it wasn't a language thing) where we could buy some , he shrugged his shoulders. Eventually told us there might be some in the cupboard but it would cost 3 euros.....not really sure why he hadn't just gone to get it in the first place! Apart from this one guy the rest of the staff were helpful and friendly.

I would stay here again if the prices were slightly lower, it's a bit overpriced for location and the basic design of the room though.

This is a clean, basic and inexpensive hotel. The main plus is the staff who were fantastic - very helpful and always cheerful. The main cons are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and only one English language station on the TV (BBC World). Location is quite central but to go into the city centre it is necessary to go through a tunnel under the railway station. Dozens of homeless people camp there - not very edifying.

This is an older hotel which has been brought up to date. Nice big room (519) with high ceiling, shower over the bath, unlike another review, and a separate toilet. The bed and pillows are the best I have ever had in any hotel/apartment - even better than my own at home! This room is right opposite main roads but because of double glazed doors, did not hear any traffic noise. It is a couple of minutes from the Gare de Lyon Perrache station, so don't get off at the first Lyon station (Part-Dieu). It's also a couple of minutes from the tramway and from the Perrache metro station. It is 2 stops from Bellecour (or a 15 minute pleasant walk) and 4 stops from Hotel de Ville, close to the Musee des Beaux-Arts. Typical continental breakfast is fine. The fabulous Brasserie Georges is right next door (see separate review). There is a room where you can store your luggage after checkout. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
