This Hotel is an easy pic in Lyon as the best rated Hotels are way to expensive or not charming enough. Even though is it not cheap for french standards this is good value for money. The rooms have been refurbished recently incl. the bathrooms, interior decoration is nice with a combination modern stile and historic/romantic prints and everything is neat. Some room only have a window to the backyard, but the cosy bar and the cafee are better place to stay anyway. Another plus: this hotel is a training center for the Bocuse Hotel school - and the service is really always friendly and helpful.

The hotel is in a great location but all the employees are snooty as if it was the Crillion. We got back from the museum at four in the afternoon and the room hadn't been cleaned. They made no appologies and didn't even tell us when it was done. They did everything with there nose in the air and I have been to France a dozen times and only seen this one other time.

Not only was this the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in - designed with love and warmth and all the French style and charm you could dream of - but our room, number 405 was absolutely spectacular. It was large and round and just absolutely gorgeous with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. We only stayed one night and I was very sad to leave. We toured several regions of France on this trip and no hotel compared to Le Royal Lyon. There was a store right down the street called Aux Cave de Curiosite and it was the most charming store I have ever been in. Beautiful location, magnificent hotel, superb service. Make sure to have breakfast there. You actually go into the kitchen which is just adorable for your petit dejouner and then go to sit in a very lovely and cozy room. I will absolutely go back to this hotel again some day! Also, make sure to book reservations for Paul Bocuse nearby for a once in a lifetime meal.

the air conditioning is weak with a tiny outlet for a pretty large room - even when you turn it colder there is not much effect. Rooms are pretty but what's the use if the airconditioning is insufficient? Everything is style not substance. The service is rather haughty and unhelpful. Convenient location but you won't sleep well here.

The Bocuse training institute operates this hotel for the Accor/Pullman chain -- somebody ought to get a promotion, what an inspired idea. The staff were perfect. One could only hope that every other hotel (chain or not) could put their staff through the experience. The rooms are very well appointed, comfortable and the service is superb.
The breakfast is well worth the experience -- a delightful place to stay.

We stayed here for two nights after spending three nights in Paris and let me tell you the sizes of the rooms were night and day. For the same price for small cramped Parisian hotel rooms, we got a giant well adorned room at this hotel. Everything about this hotel is warm and friendly from the staff to the decor to the general French country ambiance of the whole place.

This is the place to stay if you want to be in the heart of Lyon and to be pampered. We were able to walk to the train station, the banks of the two rivers and to restaurants-- no sweat. Not sure if this is true but we kind of noticed this is where French tourists go to stay so that's always a good sign.

The location is the most central in Lyon and is perfect for shopping and visiting.
Our room was not extremely spacious but very comfortable and clean.
However the location and level of comfort are not worth the 208 euro we paid for.
