Really warm and genuine welcome at reception and even ran over our request to ensure we had what we wanted. Helpful assistance with cases to our room which was spotlessly clean and had wonderful views from the small balcony. Lovely bathroom and additions were good quality. Great position - walk out the door and Lyon is waiting. Only downside really was the bar which is fairly small for a hotel this size and only one person serving on our return - waited far to long for a couple of night cap drinks and given the price you would have thought the hotel would shift them faster! That being said it's a great hotel and will def go back.

The Carlton is located right in the middle of town. Because the area is largely pedestrianised, there is little or no traffic noise. As part of the Accor chain, there is a high level of investment and the old building is intelligently and tastefully renovated. Reception is helpful and charming, with perfect English. We had a fine, large room, very comfortable king bed and plenty of storage space. The bathroom had a generous shower area and separate loo. Since the room rates are quite reasonable, it's certainly worth opting for a superior room.
Breakfast is a well-provided buffet of good quality. The hotel has no restaurant, but the excellent Restaurant Centre is adjacent. If you don't fancy its beef-centric menu, the rue Merciere, with dozens of restaurants of every kind, is a five minute walk away.
It would be hard to better this as a Lyon base.

Room Tip: ask for a superior room facing the Place Republique

We stayed in the suite overlooking the plaza which had great views, probably the best room in the hotel. The reception staff all the way through to the concierge were fantastic and the recent renovations to the hotel are perfectly benefiting of the style and quality of the hotel. I'd recommend staying at this hotel to anyone that visits Lyon. Perfect

Very nice Hotel in a perfect location for a short trip to Lyon, While part of an international chain you get the impression you are in a small independent boutique Hotel, the staff create a fabulous atmosphere of friendliness and politeness which on our stay seemed to permeate to all the other guests, the lift as other reviewers have mentioned just adds to the hotels character, we had booked a cosy room and while some reviewers have said these rooms are small we felt the room more than big enough for our 3 night stay, the beds are proper double beds and not two beds pushed together and the best I have ever slept in, in any hotel I have ever stayed in, the room was like the hotel in general very clean and immaculate in design, the bar is smaller than the impression the photos give but is ok for a nightcap the breakfast room is also on the small side and i would say would be very cramped at its busiest periods my only complaint of the hotel was on our second morning the bacon was raw and I dont mean undercooked. Other good points for the Carlton is that there is a taxi rank just outside the hotel which seems to always have a couple of taxis waiting at it and bus & metro stations are within an easy walking distance even with shopping bags.

Delightful experience. Great location, extremely helpful staff - especially Stefan at front desk, but generally everyone. We felt welcome and comfortable. The room was lovely, thoughtfully furnished and quite, with good air conditioning. There is an interesting elevator. Overall, a great hotel, with no major problems

Such a gem in the lovely city of Lyon, front desk staffs are so helpful and friendly, they helped me with maps, directions, and good places to visit. The entire hotel is so clean, the bathroom in the room was spotless, the public bathrooms were very clean as well.Great location, walked across the bridge to Paul Boscus's market, tram stop is also nearby.
The breakfast room staffs were great, you can order fresh cooked eggs.
This was the best hotel I stayed in France.
