i was unsure about picking this hotel from Accor but its a beautiful renovated classic French hotel.as we arrived out the front we had some one park our car carry our bags in along with the reception service and the decor are all 5 star ,the old style lift ,super clean room with everything you need ,bathrobe slippers, fridge ,bar and a bed to die for it was like sitting on a cloud it was so soft, our room faced the square overlooking the Ferris wheel, no noise as double glazed windows with a small balcony with great view from the 3rd floor. we were sorry it was only one night.highly recommend.

Room Tip: perhaps over looking the square or the river otherwise they are all good

Spent three nights here on a quick trip to Lyon. really good location by the river Rhone and the plazas of interest. (and shopping district if you are so inclined) Nice rooms, hotel recently refurbished, but they have left the common areas in an improved state to show off the fantastic architecture. Service excellent and this hotel would be hard to beat for the Lyon experience in a great environment. Usual niggle about the price of drinks and food...bit excessive, but they are pushing an up market experience, so understandable. The family comments included.."nicest hotel i have ever stayed in in Europe" We would definitely go back. Front desk staff really went out of their way to make sure we were well looked after.

Lots of positives---great location, very nice breakfast, nice very helpful people at the front desk (especially Stefan who checked us in), very nice modern room decor, a small balcony (great views of the church on the hill, the small Eiffel tower and "the Pencil") very comfortable bed, complimentary water in mini bar, nice large safe, etc. Minor complaints---our room could have used one more chair--no place to put anything. The bar is modern, but service is lacking---have to virtually call the front desk. No wine on the menu--have to ask for a separate wine list--to me this makes no sense.
We loved it and would stay there again.

I knew from TA reviews that we would enjoy this hotel and indeed we did. Staff was awesome from check in to check out. We arrived around 10am expecting to park the car and drop off luggage. Were pleasantly surprised when the bellman took the car to the lot (we never did figure out where the lot was) and that we could have our room at that hour. As others have said the elevator is old but charming. I did not mind at all but my husband found it irritating. Our room overlooked the square and was nice sized for a French hotel. Loved the bathroom, especially the walk in shower. Wish there was more places to unpack. Really enjoyed the breakfast. Staff was extremely helpful with dinner reservations and local information. Wish we had gotten the name of the outstanding bellman. He helped us hunt for a lost item in our car and suggested one of our favorite day trips. Great stay.

Hotel Carlton is perfectly positioned to enjoy everything Lyon has to offer. They recently renovated the hotel and it showed with beautiful decor, comfy beds, modern bathrooms but it still has that old world charm which was nice. Breakfast was very good with eggs also on offer. The hotel staff were exceptional, and went out of their way to ensure our stay was fabulous, making dinner reservations and recommendations, nothing was too hard and they made us feel very welcome. The quaint little bar was perfect too for a quiet drink before or after dinner. We loved Lyon and at the end of a busy day exploring the city we looked forward to returning to our gorgeous room.. Pure bliss.

The very well located property has recently been renovated so one has the feeling of being in a completely new hotel. The obvious advantage is that almost everything is brand new from floor to the roof. The staff are attentive and helpful with city suggestions, breakfast is very good and the glass lift embellish the inner of the building. At this point one may ask: Why not 5 stars? Well, probably due to the restoration project, rooms - though well equipped - are quite compact, at least the one we stayed in, the bathroom is rather poor in all sense. We had the feeling that the owners have prepared the property more for the convenience of a short time business traveller than for a leisure traveller.

Really warm and genuine welcome at reception and even ran over our request to ensure we had what we wanted. Helpful assistance with cases to our room which was spotlessly clean and had wonderful views from the small balcony. Lovely bathroom and additions were good quality. Great position - walk out the door and Lyon is waiting. Only downside really was the bar which is fairly small for a hotel this size and only one person serving on our return - waited far to long for a couple of night cap drinks and given the price you would have thought the hotel would shift them faster! That being said it's a great hotel and will def go back.
