“Loved this hotel !”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

We stayed here for 2 nights in July. We had two rooms next to each other . The rooms are tasteful and well set out with new and stylish furnishings. The beds are the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever stayed in.

The hotel is beautifully renovated and maintains an old style character. It is fantastically located and you can walk everywhere. Despite the central location it is very quiet at night.

The breakfast was good with a wide range of choices. All hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Carlton Hotel for 3 nights in July 2014 and had an overall good stay. We stayed in the Cozy room (18sq.m) on the second floor which is small but average size for hotels in France. The room was well decorated, the bedding was comfortable and the bathroom was stocked with enough amenities. But be ware that the toilet is not in the bathroom but separated across from the bathroom door. One thing I don't like about the room is the full length mirror is in the small closet next to the window which is very inconvenient when you are going out. With the size of the room having a full length mirror in the hallway should help but there were non. The front desk staff was helpful with all the restaurant recommendations and getting taxis for us. I really liked the elevator, which was built in the 1930s. The hotel is centrally located for us to walk everywhere, not too far from the old town, the restaurants and shops. I highly recommend this hotel for first timers to Lyon.

I stayed at this hotel for business and also leisure. It is a lovely hotel, very inviting and very friendly staff. It is central in Lyon and perfect for shops, restaurants.

The hotel room was fabulous and extremely clean and the bed was one of the best I have slept in. The decor is lovely and it feels quite special. There is a mini bar in the room and a nice coffee machine.

The bar is small and trendy and the bar staff (Christian) was very friendly and helped us to chose a couple of very nice wines.

The lift in the hotel is quite special and very ornate.

The hotel does not have a restaurant in the hotel for dinner, but there is a restaurant next door to the hotel that seems to partner with the hotel. Breakfast is provided at the hotel and is mostly continental but with lots of choice and the staff are very efficient and friendly.

I would definitely stay here again when visiting Lyon.

I stayed 2 nights in the hotel. I was assigned a very quiet room at the end of the hallway on the first floor. The room was obviously freshly renovated and had a large bedroom as well as a large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom design was modern and included deep-tub and shower. The breakfast room was on the same floor as my room - very convenient. Breakfast included hot and cold food. The very attentive staff also asked if I wanted and omelette. Here, you do not have a choice of adding mushrooms, paprika or ham. Your only choice is 'naturelle', which was fine. So all in all, a very pleasant experience.

It is very well located, looks out onto Place de Republic, which is in the heart of a walking only section of Lyon. It is very quiet at night, excellent for sleeping. Rooms are big, separate WC, all rooms seem to be decorated in red, but very tasteful. A queen bed, very comfortable, wall coverings, curtains, all in red. Lighting is very good. Breakfast also good and plenty. Juice, breads, pancakes, cheeses, sweets, tea, cold cuts, salmon, sausage, potato, bacon, coffee. The bar is comfortable, fun to go to and have a few drinks. There is a restored old lift to get you to the upper floors, that is fantastic. Restaurants are very close. Staff is very helpful. We stayed for two nights in May, and will look forward in the future to returning to this wonderful Hotel.

Room Tip: We did not visit any other rooms, but the one we had, it appears, all rooms are quiet at night and...

The Carlton McGallery Collection hotel is lovely, refurbished in 2013. It's centrally located and you can easily explore the town on foot. The hotel has an old worldly feel and yet has very modern facilities. Our standard room 315 was red, black and white. The room was quite small but well equipped. The bathroom has a separate shower, which is lovely. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. Tea and coffee making supplies provided as well as mini bar and large safe. The reception staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. Even though our room faced the street and we kept our balcony door open during the night it was very quiet. The king size bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices. Would highly recommend this hotel.

We have family in Lyon but we chose to stay in a hotel and we wanted to combined a central location, luxury and baby friendly. With a baby and driving around, we needed a perfect location. We were at the heart of Lyon, surrounded by the two rivers le Rhone et la Saone. The shopping district in Belcour and Republique. Our room was very big, the interior was cleaned, well decorated and chic well a bit French bourgeois. We enjoyed the Sunday market sur le quai Saint Antoine at 15 minutes walk from the hotel. Be aware that the shops are closed on Sunday.
The bar downstairs on the ground floor by the reception has a boutique feel to it. We ordered our dinner the 2 nights from the room services and it was biensur delicious. The presentation of our dinner was like a performance it was very special. Anyone with a newborn will tell that details like that when you can't make it to the restaurant make it well worth it.
The staff was extremely polite, welcoming and professional. My husband as always practiced his french and could easily pass for a local. As the lift is accessible from few steps from the reception/hallway area, there was always a staff helping my husband carry the pushchairs up the few steps. I like the history of the lift which added a bit of vintage/ quirkiness to the hotel. I will recommend it to a first time visitor or like us going back to see your family then these place we provide you with the romance aspect of your trip whilst your are visiting your relative or just discovering the city.
