This 2 * hotel is well located, close to Gare Perrache and a 10/15 min walk to Place Bellcouer. Spotlessly clean, friendly and welcoming staff and a good nights sleep in comfy beds. Our 'superior ' room was quite basic but contained all we needed. No tea/coffee facilities in the room however. Breakfast was €9 each and was adequate, but there are plenty of boulangeries and cafés close by.
The area is close to the station so we did experience a few tramps in the square on the way to the hotel. Don't let this put you off though; it's still a decent area and the hotel is well protected with CCTV cameras. We enjoyed our stay and found the hotel very good value for money.

I stayed in this hotel with my colleagues when we were in Lyon for a conference. Location of the hotel is great, there are many shops around, while the hotel itself is in comparably calm place. Hotel staff is very polite and helpful.

Great location! Only few blocks from Place Bellecour. Nearest metro stations 1 block away and 1 block from Perrache train station. Very clean and cozy. Great water pressure and temperature in the shower. Wifi connection strong. Great value for the location. Our bathroom did not have mold and was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and amazing pillows.

Regarding size of the rooms - yes it was very small, but this is typical of many European hotels I've stayed in. So I was not expecting a huge room without a huge cost. I didn't eat their breakfast - much more fun going to local Boulangerie for pastry.

Many shops, restaurants, grocery store nearby.

Would be nice if free continental breakfast was included, just in case. No elevator (but this is also typical in small European hotels.)

Some of the staff were very nice, others seemed indifferent. But this did not hamper our experience.

Room Tip: The rooms are small - if you're expecting large American size rooms, this is not the place for y...

Only a couple of blocks from the Lyon train station, this hotel is a good accommodation. Our room was a corner oneon floor 2 and, while there was street noise mid-evening, it was quiet at night. The room was clean and comfortable; beds slept well. One item that could be addressed is mold on some of shower tiles. Staff nice and helpful. Did not do breakfast.

It is hard to say what surprised me more, the condition of the hotel- heavily worn, the apathy of the receptionist- for three days, or the dreariness of the room. This hotel has taken a downturn since the glowing reviews. If you have business in the train station area then it may be convenient enough for you but it is a significant walk or a subway ride of multiple stops to go anywhere you want to visit in Lyon. Between the mold in the bathroom and the stale croissants and meager offerings for breakfast I would not stay here again, nor recommend that others do so. We asked the receptionist to call a cab, we were informed that there was a stand in the square two blocks away. After waiting a while the restaurant across the street called us a cab. Lots of small things added up to an unpleasant visit in this hotel.

Maybe we just arrived at the wrong time but I can't really see how this hotel deserves such a good rating by most reviewers. It's old, not quaint. In fact, it's more then just old, it's outdated (and a bit smelly in the lobby). The staff is unfriendly. Breakfast consist of old bread and yoghurt.
First of all, the good news: the location. It's reasonably close to the city center so that's a good thing. And if you want to use the public transport, it's even better because a large train station is just around the corner.
But the worst thing is the room. Saying the room is tiny is an understatement. It's smaller than 2 meters! Frankly, it feels like a coffin. The beds are very hard, pillows are very thin. The bed isn't wide but that's otherwise impossible because the room is too small. The elevator is extremely claustrofobic and the stairs are small, steep and right out dangerous.
Staff couldn't care less about us and only care that you hang the key in the reception when you walk out.
And for all this magic you get to pay a lot. The room we were in (again, very small) was over 100 €. In any chain hotel, you get a lot more for you money. This is a rip-off.

I wanted a reasonable hotel for a few days, this hotel was great. Yes the room was very small but very clean and comfortable bed. Great breakfast buffet and reception staff was great. I would stay here again and recommend to friends. Only negative for guests was that the elevator was not working. I was fine, I did not have much luggage and stairs were fine for me but others might have trouble. Hopefully this is just temporary.
