I dont understand why there is only one hostel in Lyon? This hostel is ok but I feel that the lack of competition makes the staff, service and the product it self lazy and far from great.

This hostel requires you to make a hosteling international membership- without telling you about this on their website. Its a complete waste of money and extremely annoying.

The hostel has a nice view, the rooms are very small and the shower is maybe the smallest shower on earth. The rooms is very warm in the summer, especially if you stay in the second level of the rooms its unbearable. The staff is not very service minded nor very effective or nice but they get the job done- you just have to wait for a looong time. The bar closes at 12 and even though people are friendly its not really a party place.

I guess the hostel is ok, but I would not stay here again if I had the another option in Lyon.

Easy to get there from the train station (the hill's not a problem). The old town is lovely and the hostel had a good atmosphere with views across the city. Beds and showers fine but (the water only lasts 8 seconds after you press the shower button). Breakfast was bread and cereal. Had a nice time.

Spent a week here and I liked it. Friendly, good bar, great view, nice staff. Rooms were a little crowded, showers were minimal, and place could be cleaner, though. But I liked the convenience and atmosphere. Lyon is a great city. Lots to see and do.

I stayed at this hostel a couple of times and overall I recommend it.

The Positives:

1. The charming and helpful staff! :)
2. The reception and bar area. Great spots to meet people. Very friendly.
3. The free Wifi.
4. The fabulous location: right at Vieux Lyon.
5. The lovely Le Petit Glouton Restaurant not far away.
6. The amazing views of Lyon - the best.

The Not-So-Positives:

1. The hostel was not dirty but not overly clean.
2. The showers are awful. You have to keep constantly turning them on as the automatic water pressure dispensers only works for about 10 seconds at a time - very annoying. Plus, not enough showers for the number of people.
3. Overcrowded - not enough elbow/breathing room.
4. Breakfast not great but good enough - could use some paper plates, though.

Special Note: The walk up the hill is not that big of a deal if you get off at the Vieux Lyon metro stop. However, for the faint-hearted or lazy, you can take the funicular to Les Minimes right from the metro station at Vieux Lyon (very easy) and walk down to the hostel for a couple of minutes (rather than uphill for 5). Metro ticket is valid on funicular.

Overall, very good hostel!

I like this hostel very much. i have a very pleasant stay there.
It is located on a small hill. DON'T WALK TO THE HOSTEL! (I tried it since the cable car stopped working) You can take the cable car.
The reception was very nice. Staff there were helpful. The room was big. My room had a very very good view of Lyon. I love the common area. People would gather there and talk. The atmosphere was really good.
There is no place to put your thing in the bathroom. The water stopped every 5 seconds and you had to press the button again and again. The bathrooms and toilets were outside the room. I think there were 6 bathrooms shared with 6 rooms of people. It was not dirty though.
The breakfast was okay.
You need a account and password to use the Wifi. You need to ask the reception for one. A little bit inconvenient but the wifi worked fine in the common area. I couldn't use it in my room.
No locker in the room.
Didn't use their kitchen but i think it's kinda small.
i think it's a good price. I would recommend this to my friends.
