I stayed here for a night in June with my husband and found the heat unbearable in the room - we couldn't sleep. The AC didn't work and they couldn't transfer us to another room. We were in room 60 at the top of the building and whilst the room was newly renovated the lack of AC or breeze meant we had an awful night. Couldn't wait to leave.

There was no recompense for lack of sleep or AC.

Also do not get the breakfast - its a rip off.

We stayd one night in January in one of the renovated rooms at the balcony side. The room was quite nice and clean, a bit small but otherwise fine. The bed was really confortable and we slept really well. Location is very handy, everything is close by and all in all I think the hotel is good value.

Convenient location right next to Metro, supermarket, McDonalds, Shopping, cafes and weekend market. Short walk to both riverfronts, the Saone and Rhine. Our room for four was a bit tight with an even tighter ensuite. Free wi-fi was a bonus. The staff were sort-of friendly but the lobby reeked of cigerette. Upstairs rooms can be bit of a climb. Car parking is essential as extremely hard to find on roads. Hotel parking though convenient is a rip-off at EUR20 per night.

Rooms were small.

The breakfast (not included) was terrible. You got a mini youghurt, some dry slices of bread & one cupof coffee and it cost about 7 Euro. The room were you had breakfast was made for pygmées,it was so cramped!

The location is great though. And the staff was very friendly and nice.

I would recommend it beacuse of the location, the price of the room and the staff.
But don't have your Petit déjeuner (breakfast) here!

This hotel has one (and only)big advantage: it`s located in the very heart of Lyon and even if you don`t have a good sense of orientation(like me), cannot miss it. For the rest...ugh..it`s cheap for France, but the rooms are old and look a little dirty. The toilet is on the corridor, the shower from the room is splashing in all directions and the sewage seems cramped, transforming the shower tub in a foot bath. The walls seem made of paper...you can feel every move and sound around and the room trambels when the above neighbors move(scary for a person coming from an "earthquaky "country, like me). The noise comes from the street, from the other rooms, from everywhere. But let`s say smth good: the room was larger then I expected and the wifi worked well.Just in front of the hotel is McDo, so don`t spent for the bad and expensive hotel`s breakfast
Ah, not to forget: I took the room through booking.com and the hotel could not pre-check my credit card(don`t know why, their problem). For this reason, they threatened me in 10 emails that they cannot keep the room if i am not arriving in due time. "13 PM or th room is gone!"they said(where?!the hotel was rather empty..)Unfortunately, my plane really had a 4 hours delay and I was expecting to be confronted with a bad surprise at the hotel. But here no one seemed to know about the ultimatum sent over and over from the hotel...
Off, fortunately I staid to Alexandra just one night...

Hotels seem very overpriced in Lyon, so at 51€ I was pleased to find a budget hotel that claimed to be basic but clean and in a calm location.

The hotel Alexandra is very basic, but at the price I wasn't expecting any thing else. My (smallish) room had a small double bed plus an en suite bathroom, plus the (it seems obligatory for France) tiny television set stuck up high in a corner of the ceiling.

The room could do with renovating, but again at the price one can't really complain too much. The room seemed clean.

The hotel is situated in a very calm area, so there was no external noise. However, the walls and doors seem thin, so noises from other guests were annoying.

My big complaint is that the bathroom smelt very bad - like the hotel has a problem with its drains or something. I ended up shutting the door and couldn't bring myself to take a shower the next morning due to the smell.. pretty disappointing really.
