“A great discovery - a solid budget choice.”
Reviewed 18 September 2012

We stayed at this small boutique-style budget hotel for 2 nights. (no A/C, fan only, tv) during the summer. Note: there are renos going on but we did not hear it and were not disturbed. Security code entry, make sure you can access (or review check-in time) before you arrive. Great value, without staying at a more expensive place. Easy wayfinding, 5 min. walk from the metro. Perfect for couples, families and business travellers (note did not check wifi)

The room was decorated in a tasteful, traditional décor, comfy bed, and clean. We stayed on the 3rd or 4th floor, reception on the 1st. Easy check-in/out, great reception staff. There is no lift, so those that require assistance, you’ll need to book a lower floor or stay elsewhere. Room was well laid out, slider bathroom door, good water pressure, tv, small sink. Would stay again. Great location and close to all sites/shopping and a pleasant walk to the bouchons (there is a highly rated resto just off the street).

my daughter and I (a Travel Agent) stayed here for two nights in July - although it has no lift the staff assisted with getting our suitcases up the small flight of stairs - ask for the room opposite the reception
Though small it was adequate for our stay - Beds very comfortable - No aircon - The Reception Staff Salem was extremely gracious and helpful and of course another plus is that this little quaint hotel in the Best location for Lyon is around the Corner from the Cafe de Federation which was also awesome
We had a fabulous time in Lyon and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this quaint 2 star hotel
Excellent value for money in a great area - and the saving you make you can spend on a fabulous Lyonais food

Room Tip: Dont forget that it is a 2 star hotel and they dont promise anything that they cannot deliver but...

Great staff great location and nice room all this at a very affordable price! Our room was clean and big enough for the 2 of us. The owner, Anne, made everything to make our stay better! There are stairs to get to the rooms but it was not a problem for us. We will come back to this hotel next time we are in Lyon. Thanks for everything!!!!!!!

My husband and I have been traveling internationally for years. I would rate this hotel as an average 2 star hotel. We arrived late morning and thought we would leave our luggage at the hotel in the event our room wasn't ready. The front door was locked, and there was a sign on the door stating that someone is there from 2pm to 10pm. So we had to haul our luggage back to the garage where we had parked our rental car. So please be aware that it appears one cannot even enter the hotel until 2pm. After checking in, the hotel gives you a code to enter on a keypad located at the entrance of hotel. One can then enter during off hours.

We did not have a re-decorated room. It appeared that the walls had recently been painted, but understand that it is a very old building. The room was small but relatively clean, however the floors were not clean. The sheets and towels were well worn but clean. We did not have breakfast there but we were told that it was 8 euros. Hairdryer is available on request. There is no air conditioning, and the room became warm during the night. There is no lift/elevator. The hotel is well situated for sightseeing, restaurants, shopping. It's a 10 minute walk to "Old Lyon."

I'll start with the negative: no lift. I had a big suitcase and that was a bit of a bother, otherwise a perfect stay.

The location is completely central, with easy access from the Metro from both train stations.

The room was recently redecorated, with clean lines, fresh colours and a homely feel. I had a double bed, 2 nightstands (with good lighting to read in bed) and a small desk with a chair. A wardrobe had a few hangers. Impeccable bathroom with shower (and a shower door) and a separate toilet.

This is a 2 star hotel, so the room was of moderate size. The 2 stars are in all likelihood due to the lack of lift

Breakfast is a mini buffet with omelette on demand.

Very friendly welcome with good advice on what to see, where to eat etc. I will definitely come back.

We stayed for three nights in this very well-groomed little hotel. On arrival, don't let yourself be fooled by the bright-red front door, which might resemble another kind of establishment - this only serves as a harmless eye-catcher. We found the hotel to be very clean and tidy. The motivated staff was always friendly and helpful. The rooms are certainly not oversized, but given the perfect location within Lyon, it's much more than just value for money. All in all: highly recommended.

well, first of all: if you don't feel like lifting your suitcases up a winding narrow staircase, then don't go. if you look for an inexpensive place in a great area for dinning, sightseeing and shopping and don't mind a few hick-ups like no toilet paper then go. Had a superior room which was still small and the toilet paper never made it there. the towels were old but clean and the bed very comfortable! The toilet itself was so tiny one could hardly get into it. Make a note: no air condition, this might be a problem in summer. You can't beat the location though, therefore still a 'good' especially for the money and the stuff was very friendly too.
