“Adequate but nothing special”
Reviewed 10 May 2013

We stayed in the hotel on business using the conference facilities. Wifi was excellent which was very important. The staff were very nice and helpful. Full board so dinner in most nights. The chef's selected our main dish and pudding each night and it was well cooked and tasted good but lacked freshness and the healthy aspect. I looked longingly at other dishes that other customers had chosen a la carte. We had to ask for eggs to be replenished most mornings. Waiting staff were very nice and accommodating.

The rooms were large and most of us had a kitchen that we didn't use. The bed was a bit lumpy but pillows great. Unfortunately the room was very cold. The heating did not work and with the high ceilings there was no way to get the room warm. The weather at the time of year was unseasonally cold. The towel rail in the bathroom could be turned on high so at least I wasn't freezing after a shower. However, it was impossible to take a shower without getting the floor soaking wet due to the design of the shower screen. This meant that there was damage to the floor covering around the bath.

The location of the hotel was far away from the centre near the train station. This meant there was not night-life close for us to relax in the evenings. So it was the hotel bar or a taxi into the centre of town. This is not the fault of the hotel but the problem was that the hotel bar was not stocked very well. I asked for a vodka which they didn't have. I expected that having asked for it a couple of times they might have stocked up but they never did. Surely vodka is a staple for any bar.

Pool? Not a pool. Perhaps a splashing pool. Could not sit in the jacuzzi very comfortably either.

Aside from the hotel looking much better in the pictures than it actually is... My coat was STOLEN from my room and the hotel will not do anything about it - I have spent three weeks making phone call after phone call and they barely speak and say they will call back and they NEVER call back... After calling 7 times in 2 days the 'manager' said that i should file a police report because there is nothing they will do. One, because they can't "prove I had the coat" even though I was wearing it when I checked in. And two, because the housekeeping is an outsourced company and therefore 'not Park and Suites' responsibility.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. The hotel is easy to find as is on a main road however there is no parking to stop and drop off family and baggage if you are driving. The air conditioning did not work in our room and to the credit of the staff we were moved to another room. Unbelievable but the bathroom in this room had a leak, as in coming out into the rest of the room. Told the staff who were concerned. They brought up towels and a mop but left them for us to clean up the room. We were given a free breakfast to compensate but still not a good experience. Other thing I noticed is lack of anything to show where you are. We laughed at rooms as they were so bland that you could have been anywhere in world with nothing to show you were in Lyon let alone France.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere

Five of us stayed here for 2 nights. The location might work for business travelers, but for tourists it's not great. We were traveling with my elderly parents - the dark hallways were dangerous for them and the two story "apartment" relegated them to the pullout sofa in the main room as the narrow, slippery steps were dangerous and the only toilet was on the first floor. Upstairs, one bedroom was a loft (no wall or door) and the bedroom had a glass wall. So, essentially no privacy for anyone.

Breakfast was expensive and not very good; service was nearly non-existent.

Location was a long walk to the Metro to get to the tourist areas. This place might work for those seeking basic sleeping accommodations and nothing else, but for a family of 5 adults (2 elderly) it posed some challenges.

Stayed at the Hotel Park & Suites Part-Dieu in June 2012. What a mistake that was. This is definitely not 4 star accommodation.

Had a double storey suite which was in desperate need of renovation. 2 bedrooms upstairs and a sofa-bed downstairs. Could hear the train at all hours of the day and night. At times the whole room vibrated. Paper thin walls means you can hear your neighbours clearly. It felt that their crying baby was in our room...very annoying.

Dark corridors, lights only turn on when you walk through which does not make it an inviting atmosphere. Looks and feels kind of eery. Also, there is a terrible mouldy smell in corridors.

Breakfast area is nice but staff are so lazy. Had to constantly be told to bring plates, forks, glasses etc etc etc Four stars??? We shouldn't have to do their job for them!!!

Advertised swimming pool but there is no pool only a jacuzzi which is not suitable for children.

Too far to walk into the town centre so you need a car or be prepared to catch public transport.

Would we stay here again.... DEFINITELY NOT. Would we recommend this place to our friends.... NO WAY.

Look elsewhere. You'll find better and cheaper places.

The hotel was extremely basic, and personally didn't feel like a 4 star accomodation. The simple decor was marked and cracked. I stayed on the 5th floor, but yet still managed to hear the train passing throughout the day and night. The main facilities in this hotel was the spa. On the day we arrived the spa facilities wasn't currently working and stated that it should be fixed the next day. The next day we went down to the spa and the notice was still up, we confronted the reception about this and said that we booked the hotel mainly for the spa, and her response was that many people did they same, not alot i can do, which i felt was very unhelpful and rude. Its cheap and pratical for a party of 3 adults compared to other hotels near by. I generally would not recommend this hotel.
