Honestly, due to completely booked Lyon, this hotel was selected among the few with any availability at all. Yet was happy for every Euro spent there! Super nice staff, friendly, helpful. Hotel itself being in an old monastery. The best view for breakfast and many other things!

Room tip: Any with a view on Lyon, ask for a quiet room

We always a fan of Relais & Chateaux chain and this hotel is one of it.

Check in was smooth and efficient, they brought us to the room and what a beautiful view. Its overlooking the whole city and the hotel’s pool. Our room came with a private sauna in it, which was perfect for winter.

Service was excellent and discreet, which we loved it. Breakfast was nice and very good quality of foods and drinks (specially the fruit juice). Facilities are excellent with a heated pool.

This is a historical building and they converted it to a hotel nicely.

Location is perfect, we took taxi/uber all the time, unless you want to walk uphill.

Overall it was a peaceful experience.

This hotel would be better placed in the hills of Tuscany than where it was in Lyon. It was a steep climb to get to the hotel from the city and an even steeper climb to get from the hotel to the cathedral. The service was very good and the lobby attractive but not inviting. The room was tired and small for the price. The pool area was very nice and the views spectacular.

I love the anticipation of staying at Villa Florentine. The service is overt and friendly right from the beginning and your experience is carefully managed. The rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast is excellent and our meeting room perfect for what we needed.Thank you for your hospitality William

Ahead of our reservation at Villa Florentine I didn’t quite know exactly what to expect from our stay, other than it was going to be special— and our expectations were met and exceeded. Like others have mentioned: the views are breathtaking, the staff is kind and exceedingly helpful, the rooms comfortable and well thought out. Villa Florentine has earned its place as a favorite hotel, and a main reason we are very eager to return to Lyon.

I do want to expand on how helpful the staff is, which to me is a hallmark of a truly great hotel and a guarantee for a memorable stay. They kindly provided an orientation to the hotel/Lyon over refreshments (delicious fresh juices and pastries), gave us advice on interesting points to see in Lyon, and assisted with a last minute wardrobe malfunction quickly. During our stay we had dinner reservations at Paul Bocuse, and had several questions about the experience— to which the concierge was very knowledgeable.

A few quick bits on the hotel’s location: The hotel is impressively built on top of, and in to, a hill that overlooks all of Lyon, but connected to the old city. It is about a 15 minute walk to the flatter part of Lyon, which is connected by several foot bridges. In order to head out from/return to the hotel on foot, you need to take a series of steep stairs that spits you right in the old city. You can also take a slightly longer walk down a less steep path. I wanted to make note of this in the event a reader has mobility issues. Uber and taxis were plentiful, and we found ourselves walking downhill and taking a taxi back which wasn’t a problem at all. For those who like a bit of a walk, Villa Florentine is within a reasonable distance to the Roman ruins (~25 - 30 mins walk), and even closer to the Cathedral— which is accessible by a lovely rose garden pathway (which was lovely even in the winter!) or a funicular up the mountain.

We can’t wait to return! Thank you, Villa Florentine for a memorable stay.
