The Fete des Lumieres is a staple of the Lyon calendar and each year they innovate with spectacular use of Lyon's landmarks to make the city light up with static and dynamic lightshows. It's beautiful. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are very busy nights and the organisers strictly control the metro entrances and exits to ensure flow, but it's a good time to walk as much as possible if not too cold. Be prepared to hold onto your friends and family to not get lost. But enjoy it and don't try to do too much in one night.
