The positive things about the hotel were its proximity to Parc de la Tete d'Or, which is beautiful and a must when visiting Lyon. Also walking distance to the other side of the city. We found a really nice gyro place across the street for lunch run by a Tunisian man who was really helpful and provided free wifi. The day staff at the hotel seemed a little annoyed to help with questions, but did so nonetheless and also allowed us to check in early. The night staff was incredibly helpful with questions, and reservations, or calling taxis for us. The one negative was, that the room was small, with just the bare minimum. Bathroom was a bit more spacious which was helpful. Also really annoying to use their free wifi. It gave you four hours of use before pay and you had to set up a different account for all your devices. That and don't forget to save your username and password, because you need to sign in each time

I actually loved this hotel, but rated it average because it really is pretty basic. It's an old-fashioned, owner-run place, small and genuinely friendly. The breakfast is excellent, with good coffee served in a pot and willingly replenished. Small room, good bed, adequate bath. No decor to speak of. Double-glazing controlled the noise of the busy street, but it would be miserable and noisy in hot weather.

Am so often disappointed by hotels these days, that the little unpretentious Tete d'or came as a really pleasant surprise. I wouldn't describe the room I had as enormous but the proportions were good, the bathroom was excellent (and comparatively generous in size) and frankly at this price point (60€), I wasn't expecting any better and the quality of the bed and linen made up for any thoughts of smallness.

Great location in a fairly upmarket area of Lyon. Really friendly people running the hotel. Good solid breakfast. You can't often get close to this sort of quality. Recommended.

Room Tip: 3rd floor with double or triple glazing= zero traffic noise.

The hotel is situated on a great location... all what you need in (central) Lyon is on walking distance. The hotel stuff is really kind and helpful. The rooms are basic and practical. The hotel dispose also with an internal garage if you travel with the car. There is only two small problem... The first one is that you don't have the airconditioning, so in the summertime it can be really difficoult to sleep there. The second problem is that the rooms don't looks like on the web pictures, not all of them. They probably restructured only a few rooms in that stylish way as you can see on the internet. Both of the problems is still resonable if you compare them with the hotel rates.

Had one night in Lyon and wanted to stay close to a friend's house which was by the park. We booked just a few days before and they only had one double room left, unfortunately it was a very small room. Granted it was only 50 euros so it was very cheap. Honestly, a 11 sq meter room is about 115 sq feet, and it's fine for 1 person but just a bit too much of a squeeze for 2. I think they have larger rooms on other floors so just know what you're booking. That said, it was very clean and the location is very convenient for the metro.

Summers in Lyon can get hot and this hotel does not have AC, they will give you a small fan though. We had the fan on and left the window open which meant loud street noise once morning hits. The windows do a fine job of keeping noise out when closed, but then it gets hot. dilemma, dilemma. Obviously this is not a problem if you go in other seasons. All in all, a functional and clean choice for travelers on a budget, just don't expect any luxuries.

Stayed here for one night- conveniently located to metro (Messena). Had room on the fifth floor- two person elevator to the fourth floor and a flight of stairs up the the fifth so be forewarned. The room was nicely decorated, good size, bathroom was adequate- had a nozzle for a shower but not really possible to take one- no curtain. All in all good service, nice, basic room. Pleased.

Room Tip: Elevator only goes to fourth floor-

We stayed in this hotel when it was called Hotel Olympique during the Light Festival. We booked it because it was the only place I could find in Lyon for that weekend, everything else was booked out. The hotel manager was lovely, the breakfast was good. The room was basic and a little small, but was clean and had everything we needed. We loved the location, the neighbourhood is one of the nicest in Lyon in my opinion. Lots of great shops, cafes and restaurants.
