The Michelin Bib Gourmand rating accurately calls this a “dyed in the wool” “bouchon”, smooth with the patina of age. Portions were hearty and delicious.

Tried this charming Bouchon based on the recommendation of my friend and it was okay. It was a good and decent experience. Food was just okay but the service was excellent.

The truffled ham was excellent whilst I have a mix review of the Foie gras, my friends found it really yummy while it was just okay for me.

The pike quenelle lyonnaise which is a regional delicacy was really good as well.

Best part of the meal was that they gave a generous serving of Baby carrots, potatoes and baked cheese pasta that comes with the main course.

Overall a good and decent place to try local delicacies in Lyon.

This restaurant came highly recommended and we booked well in advance.

We were positively impressed by the quality of the food, however we were disappointed that out of the already limited main course options they were missing 2 of them-(the bresse chicken and the lamb). So this meant we had a very limited choice and had to have the beef. The beef was good but the waiters made a mix up between who ordered rare, medium and medium to rare. Also we understand that the waiter doesn’t speak English but would have expected him to know the words for how meat is cooked...

We experienced such an awful evening in this Daniel et Denise. Our first choice was the croix Rousse version but its apparently shut for weeks now .
Service was more lethargic than a funeral and about as much fun. No buzz no flair no fun. The menu was given with out the daily specials or requests for pre dinner drinks. But we ordered their house cocktail version. The food and wine items were give and after eating the starters we asked for our white wine. Then the red came as well with a maitre d’s promise it was a mistake and would be given complimentary. Our tables comments were about the food standards, tastes and textures all way of the mark.
Fatty pork confit ribs. Soggy spinach
Absolutely nackered carrots, just cooked chicken with tasteless mushroom sauce
Un rested Entrecôte blood seeping smothered in under cooked pepper sauce
Fine traditional quenelles of Pike ? And after finishing main courses and being cleared with a wait of 40 minutes we decided to forget desserts and coffee and liqueurs and just check out. We explained our worries to the staff and nearly paid for two white wines on the bill instead of none.
Not that they were busy 4 floor staff for 4 dozen customers . Desserts sit on bar counter all evening and your table is allocated one bottle of tap water and it’s a god damm impossibility to squeeze another out of them. We’ve been many time to this beautiful city culinary hot spot leaving hundreds of Francs and Euro’s in appreciation but this event was the worst Michelin ‘bib’ meal we’ve ever eaten in Italy France Ireland and the Uk in 32 years .
I rest in peace no one to blame only the top dog ......

We had heard good things about Daniel et Denise both from travel guides and from friends who'd been there so we made a reservation when we planned our trip to Lyon. The food was wonderful! I had the fish quenelles which were light yet very flavorful and served with a great sauce.. My husband had the skate which he enjoyed as well. We both had the starter of eggs poached in red wine with bacon - amazing! The only odd thing was that the main course came with 2 starches (Lyonaise potatoes and pasta in cheese sauce) but no vegetables. The potatoes and pasta were great but we would have preferred a choice of 1 of the 2 plus a vegetable. Desserts were great and the service was friendly and efficient even though my French isn't very good.
