Loved this week town! It was like going back in time! Had a wonderful dinner in one of the small restaurants! Great adventure! We highly recommend this attraction!

We drop by this Medieval Village in the afternoon, I enjoy walking around all the old buildings and the view is excellent.

We took the train from Lyon Part Dieu Station to Meximieux-Perouge as there is not direct train. Its a 30 minute journey. Not forgetting to validate your tickets before going on to the platform. Once at the Meximeiux-Perouge station there is a distinct lack of direction signs.
Go up the slight hill to the clock tower and turn left, walk 500m to the roundabout you will see a road sign for Cite Medievale going right, follow the sign up hill for about 1km. You will see a sign welcoming you to Cite Medievale Perouges, turn right and walk up the steep hill for 150m. A stone arched gateway is in front of you.
Wonderful cobbled streets, ancient buildings, secret places to explore. Lots of places to take photos or relax in the square with a glass of something. There is a tourist information office within the town to get a map and explanations of the buildings

We were there during the All-Saints holiday so many of the locals were out-of town, and it was not particularly over-run with tourists. We spent the day just strolling around enjoying the beautiful old buildings, the galettes and a local grape sparkling beverage, the shops, the view. Many opportunities for taking photos here. The streets are completely cobblestone-paved so this may be a problem for some.

This well kept, partially restored Medieval Town 30ks from Lyon is a must on any tourist visit. Only drawback is that the steep streets are cobbled. If you can get here, after your walk around and your many photo stops, you have to try the local delicacy Sweet Galette, a Brioche pastry with butter and sugar burnt into it ( like creme caramel hard toffee topping). Today was a wine celebration so lots of drinking and singing and it is a Sunday. Families gather here for the Galette and always take one or more home to other family, they are the size of a family size pizza but can be bought by the slice.
The church is from the 14 th Century and is a must see. This town is amazing.
