“Basic Property near Lake Annecy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2013

My room was basic -- having two twin beds and no air conditioning. Without air conditioning, closing the windows and sliding door before bedtime also meant closing off the ventilation. Fortunately, the room did not heat up afterward. Because the windows and sliding door had no screens, I had to share the room with the mosquitoes, several of which were dead in my bed the next morning. (In fairness, I have never seen a window screen -- not one -- anywhere in Europe.)

The hotel is near Lake Annecy, but as you can see from the photos it's not ON Lake Annecy. If you're picturing the lake lapping at the door of your hotel room, think again.

The service was friendly.

The hotel is in Echarvines, not Talloires. Though Talloires is very picturesque, it is a few kilometers to the south.

We never had moquitoes in our hotel, it's the reason why we did not put screens on our windows.
When this Client stayed in our place (one night) the temperature was of 15/16° during the night and his room was facing the north and we do not think that A/C is necessary in those conditions. We have A/C in our rooms facing the south but then you do not have the view to the lake, but to the mountains. We are in a very quiet area and you can leave sliding doors open during the night, with no risk and we have a system to lock them with 20 cm opening in such a way nobody can enter in the room. When Clients have problems, they should tell us and we can always find a solution or explain what to do to solve the problem. We are here 24/24 hours at their disposal.

We stayed here for 5 days and 4 nights, and I've to say that this is one of the most wonderful hotels we've ever had! We had little expectations, as many hotels we've stayed around France are either overpriced, too small, or had looked better in picture. This hotel was a wonderful surprise indeed. It's perfect for families - the rooms are comfortably sized, adequately warm, large bathrooms, and not too expensive (110 euros per night). The breakfast is a tad expensive (at 12 euros per person) but there's nothing stopping you from driving down to a nearby boulangerie for breakfast. Our two favourite things about this hotel are 1) the fact that the balcony overlooks the breathtaking Alps and 2) very hospitable and friendly French owner, who's extremely fluent in English. If you're planning to visit Annecy and the surrounding areas, we highly recommend staying here. Just to note, there's no pool or fitness centre (if you're looking for these facilities).

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the lake.

Perfectly fine, small hotel located right next to the beautiful Golf du Lac d'Annecy in Talloires. Great golf course, well maintained, friendly club house. The hotel itself is fairly simple, clean with a lovely view over the lake and the mountains. The host is most welcoming and directed us to the Cafe de la Place a couple of km away for diner where we enjoyed excellent food, friendly staff, good prices.

Room Tip: Room with a lake view.

The rooms are totally silent, all with their own balcony overlooking the lake. Very large comfortable beds. Lovely parquet flooring. Well equipped bathrooms. Breakfast is a little expensive at 12€ pp. Friendly owners & staff. Perfectly located for Talloires and Menthon St Bernard.

We stayed 6 nights at the Hotel Golf et Montagne in Achervines- Talloires. The rooms are adequate, we did not get the rooms with a view to Lake Annecy because all of them were already booked, but our rooms had a view of the mountains and it was alright. We had everything we needed in the room, comfortable beds, a small frig, aircon, Flat TV, a kettle and the breakfast was varied and good.
The owners Mr, Willy and his wife did everything to make our stay wonderful. We had so many questions about the surroundings and other information and Mr. Willy responded immediately and even offered more information and initiated itineraries.
I would like to point out that while I was visiting one day in Aix-les-Bain I realized that I did not have my wallet and thought about going to to the police to report that I have lost it or it was stolen. But I phone Mr. Willy and asked him to check if my wallet was in the room. He was having lunch at at restaurant quite away from the Hotel, but he said he would call us after going back to the hotel immediately and check. Indeed he left the restaurant and went back to the hotel to check. He phoned us back after 25 minutes saying that he found our wallet.
We think that was great on his part to drive back and stop his lunch to help us.
We would go back again to this hotel.
Whenever we enquired and asked for something Mr. Willy answered us always with a smile.
Thank you Mr. Willy from the four of us.
(We were travelling with another couple who feel the same about the hotel)

Everything was fully booked in Annecy, so we hadto stay in this hotel. The hotel is simple, but clean and comfortable. The breakfast is ok, not a feast but enough to go on and all fresh made.

The owner(?) was very friendliy, even stayed up late to accomodate our very late arrival and made sure our wishes during breakfast were fullfilled. I am sure when I would have asked for fresh herbs, he would have gone out in the fields to serach for them.

The rooms were simple, yet fully functional and clean. The bathroom was spacious and clean. I slept well.

I just missed my international television, but the views in the moring of the surrounding mountains and lake with the clouds still hanging low made me forget about that. I wished I had time to play a round of golf, the hotel offers a good discount. There is even a small driving range around the corner, I am sure you are allowed to hit some balls as it was never busy when we were there.

Room Tip: Book the lake side room.
