Beautiful location. Lacklustre rooms and staff. Rooms date from the 1970's. Wardrobes have sliding metal doors, which reminded me of the filing cabinets in my first office!
Best you can say is that it is very relaxing. Restaurant only serves breakfast. Buy your own food from the local shop and sit in the shade of the garden trees or eat in reception!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, avoid a mountain view room. There is a church close to the front of the hotel. Starts chiming the time every fifteen minutes from 6 am!

It's got to be good to go anywhere 6 times! There are things about Le Lac which it will probably always have like its brilliant location, fine pool and general ambience. There was always a laissez-faire attitude by the management where shortcomings were not quickly rectified, if at all. We still loved it. However we also noticed 3 years ago when last visiting that the excellent restaurant had dumbed-down somewhat. Now it is gone altogether which has disappointed us a lot even though there is no obligation upon the owners to have one. I have to say that the two reveiws in the last. year (including one a week ago) by returning clients are pretty fair. There is a sad feel to the place. I used to feel that 2-star understated the hotel even though it had, and has no in-room safe, no air-con and no in-room fridge. Probably it now feels about right and that's a pity because the potentialis enormous. Still, it was very clean, welcoming and room attendance excellent.

We have stayed at Le Lac many times and have loved it dearly. Sadly, now that the restaurant has closed, the heart of the hotel is gone. The atmosphere has changed completely and the staff now seem utterly disinterested in their guests. What a shame! I'm afraid it is now an overpriced B&B (albeit in a beautiful location) and I think it's unlikely we will go back again.

Talloires is the perfect little village. It is without a doubt the best spot by the lake for swimming, relaxing, walking and stunning views. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the 'beach' and very close to the centre of the village. The rooms are a good size and kept very clean. The pool was also clean. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel as it was quite pricey but we enjoyed our daily trip to the boulangerie where you can also grab a quick coffee. The hotel does appear to be in need of an update as mentioned in other reviews but this would not put us off staying again. The staff were friendly but lacked basic knowledge of tourist activities/attractions. We were told that it was not possible to kayak or paraglide from Talloires but it is. There is a small tourist information office close to the 8 a Huit in the centre of the village where staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. When you consider the price of the other hotels in Talloires, this one is good value.

Room Tip: We opted for a mountain view room as it was cheaper than a lake view. The view was certainly not inferior. We stayed on the third floor, it was quiet there.

Hotel le lac is a great little hotel in a beautiful part of France. Only a short walk to the lake making it perfect for relaxing in the sun. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly, the room was spacious and comfortable. A tip for anyone visiting is to request a room with a shower otherwise you will get the standard European style shower! On the whole a great stay, the hotel is functional but not luxury...you get what you pay for.
