We stayed here a few years ago now - earlier than the August 2012 shown in this review. It was awful. I'v only now written this review as I'v only just joined Tripadvisor and used internet. What was wrong with it for us - everything but the lovely restaurant and food. The hotel people were rude and offhand, throwing the key to us on arrival. They were horrible to us the whole time there and seemed to be "anti-British."The room allocated (number 7) had a lovely bathroom but everything else was bad. The holiday brochure said all rooms had a lake or mountain view - we had a car park. The "balcony" was so small only one person could stand on it at a time, but couldn't anyway as it was completely overgrown with bushes and the flooring had nails pointing through. The room furniture looked like it had been thrown together in a school woodwork class, it was rough, splintery and again had nails protruding in places. The bed was uncomfortably. After complaining to the holiday rep (the hotel did not want to know at all) the hotel reluctantly gave us another room. It was much better and was supposed to have a lake view, well it did as you looked through a "slot" between two other hotels in front of it. At the end of our stay the hotel manager tried to obtain more money from us for changing to that room as it had a lake view! Talloires itself is not as detailed in the brochure, I was instrumental in getting most of it corrected. The resort has a couple of nice walks, but is very small and to me, no-where near enough facilities eg only one cafe besides hotels. Transport was bad. Only two ferries daily and these go around the lake - not direct so it takes ages to get to Annecy which is delightful. Only two buses and these go at the same time as the ferries so if you miss one then you miss all. Brochures talk of a "beach" - there isn't one but instead some wood planks locally nicknamed as a "beach." I really don't understand why this hotel attracts good reviews unless there have been some serious inprovements.
