“Old-Timers Caution”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Les Grillons measured up to all the favorable reviews upon which we based our stay: lovely location and grounds, fine swimming in Lake Annecy across the road and in the roomy pool, decent accomodations (athough a coffee maker would make a good addition), fine meals as touted, and the hosts are most helpful and welcoming. However, there is no lift, and the single narrow spiral staircase created problems for us eldery folk. Had we had foreknowledge of this condition, we would have passed up this nice place.

Room Tip: Not much of a "lake view" from balcony rooms.

We stayed for 10 nights at the Hotel Les Grillons. The owners made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. We stayed in a family room. My daughter had her own room.

The breakfast and dinner were very good. The staff were very friendly and would put themselves out to help you. The best hotel we have stayed in for a long time.

A 6 night stay here in August 2014 more than exceeded expectations: and based on other reviews, our expectations were very high. The room was good, with a view towards the lake. It was clean and spacious and large. The hotel grounds are very well cared for, with lovely plants and the swimming pool: always a pleasure to return to after a day' slight seeing. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, with the couple who run the hotel always happy to chat and advise. The food was exceptional. The set meal, posted in the morning, was interesting and varied and was cooked superbly. Well-presented, the portions were just right and a fine selection of wines were available. Overall, it's difficult to imagine a better place to stay in a wonderful region. Highly recommended!

We stayed here as a family of 4 with 2 teenage children for 3 nights from the 31st July.
The Hotel is wonderful and probably one of the best we have ever stayed in.
The staff are friendly and so helpful. The rooms are huge and all ( i think) have views of the lake.
The grounds of the hotel are stunning and the pool lovely. But what really made our stay was the fantastic food, we ate every scrap of every meal (including our 13 and 15 year old children who can be fussy).
The location of the hotel is also fabulous. It has 2 lovely lakeside beaches just across the road, one which you could hire paddle boards and other equipment from. There were also endless opportunities for outdoor adventure activities (we did white water rafting), great for families with older children.
All in all a wonderful stay and we will be returning.

Room Tip: All rooms good and have lake views

Stayed a week in a 50M2 suite. Rooms clean and of adequate size for a family of 4. Talloires is a beautiful town and would highly recommend vacationers seek out this location as alternative to the more busy town of Annecy. Breakfast and dinner are included and are of good variety. I thought the quality of the food was excellent and never had a bad meal. The staff will accommodate if you do not care for what is on the menu. The menu is posted in the morning and you can make a request for something else and it will be ready when your group is seated for dinner. The staff is young and energetic. They take great pride in their hotel. The care they took setting up for meal service and keeping up the grounds was a joy to watch. From setting the candles in just the right spot on the outside stairs to make it look nice, to the wait staff wearing white gloves and arranging the silverware just so on the tables. Once the rooms are updated then will be 5 starts for sure

Room Tip: Staying on third floor gets a better view of the lake but second floor has balcony

We booked through Inghams having read the reviews on Tripadvisor - what a brilliant place to stay. The food is wonderful, the staff are friendly, helpful and want to make your stay a pleasure. Couple a great hotel with some of the most stunning scenery in Europe and combination makes for A great experience. Can't speak highly enough of everyone here .......

Room Tip: They all seem good

We started our 2-week France vacation with 3 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed everything about this hotel. Unfortunately, the weather was lousy during our entire stay (constant rain and the temperature didn't get out of the 50's--in July!), so we couldn't enjoy the grounds, the pool or much of anything outside of the hotel. The room was very comfortable, shower good, staff and service outstanding. Our dinners were excellent and the wine reasonably priced. They have an egg cooker at the breakfast buffet and I lost 2 eggs in it the first time I used it, which the staff retrieved for me. I highly recommend this hotel and its terrific food and staff!
