This hotel was the absolute best, in all categories I can think of. The accommodations were clean, well organized, maintained, and most of all quite cozy; all in all superb. The architecture was quaint and well considered. The food was, oh my gosh simply out of this world good.
The service however was the most over-the-top good I've ever encountered anywhere. For example, my son had a ski accident and they spent a couple of hours assisting me in communications with local insurance related tasks, a job that would have cost me a day alone, due to the language barriers and other complexities of French language/culture which I'm not acquainted. Needless to say they were, and other aspects of hotel management, always friendly, eager to help, and just top-notch.
Look no further, this is the place to stay. Granted I'm not stated other places in Vl d'Isere, however I would find no need to do so upon return

Room Tip: Not really sure, just stayed in a double room. Worked great

The hotel itself was surprisingly nice, and quiet. Not too long walking distance from the town centre, restaurants and apres ski places. The rooms had everything you need during your skiing trip. Breakfast was also good - selection of bread, meets, cheese, freshly boiled eggs, muesli,... Here I have to mention the waiters who didn't have problems to prepare espresso, even though there was regular serve yourself coffee maker machine in the restaurant. Thank you!
The only thing we were missing was parking for the guests. We had to look for a parking lot and walk some distance every day to and from the parking place. My point is, that there are hotels, which do offer parking to their clients. If you come to Val d'Isere by taxi or by bus, you do not need to pay attention to this after all.
Other than that, we had a good stay at this hotel.

The 4th year in a row at the L'Avancher and we enjoy it every time. This time; they fixed ski passes as well as skies. The passes we collected in the reception and the ski shop was close to the tourist office. What is nice; you enter the ski shop with your boots. They fix the skis and you leave. What about the shoes you had on your feet? The shop returns them to the hotel and they take the skis from the ski locker the day you leave. Convenient indeed.

Centrally placed - a 3star hotel with a marvellous restaurant( mondays closed), 2-3 minutes walk from the bus stop or about 5-10 minutes downtown...The breakfast is simple, but good, eggs, juices, coffee, tea, some pastries and do not forget; the Rebluchon and Beaufort cheeses as well as ham and jam(in several types). You are prepared for a long run on ski afterwards.
Clean rooms and not to forget the bathtub after a long skiing day. Make stiff muscles soft again. For those who like it; a beautiful sauna and if you ski the day you leave - you can take a shower in the ground floor.
Another comfortable thing is to just go down in slippers for the dinner....it is soooo good. :)

We like the atmosphere, the staff and the hotel. I think -and hope - you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: The rooms toward the main street may suffer from drunken people walking home.

Just come back from a few days in Val d'Isere. First stay at the L'Avancher but I'm hoping it will be one of many - my 2 skier friends and I always spend a long weekend in Val d'Isere each year and, up to now, have stayed at other hotels in the town.

The location, rooms, cleanliness and the overall set-up could not be faulted at all - everything we could have asked for. Plus all our pre-arrival questions and requests were dealt with very efficiently as well as professionally. Oh, and the food is amazing too.

BUT what sets this amazing little hotel apart from anything else we have come across is Frederic and his team.

I was unfortunate to have a terrifying health scare on Friday night which required me to spend the nigh in hospital down the valley at Bourg St Maurice. Everyone on duty that night rallied around (despite this being a very busy night in the restaurant) to make me as comfortable as they could and call for an ambulance / doctor etc. Frederic went one step beyond and contacted the hospital on behalf of my friends the following day to ask how I was and even arranged for a taxi to bring me back to the resort once I was discharged.

I travel extensively and have stayed in hotels ranging from 5* luxury in Europe, the Americas and the Far East to remote homestays in Australia and New Zealand.

It's the small things that make a difference - the L'Avancher is up there with the best of them.

We will certainly be returning back and I might even take the wife and kids next time.

We have just returned from our 2nd stay in L'Avancher, it's not often that we will return to the same place but we couldn't resist and we are already thinking about 2015. Leading up to our stay Isabel was very helpful and arranged everything for us so all we had to do was turn up and ski and she provided a very friendly and efficient reception service throughout. Frédéric (the owner) is the perfect host, full of enthusiasm and offers a very efficient service. We arrived early and managed to check in straight away which made everything very easy.

The hotel itself is beautiful, we loved it on our first trip but it has been improved even further. Our room was perfect with a very comfortable bed and modern and clean bathroom. The room provided a great place to relax after a full day of skiing and the views from the balcony/terrace are lovely.
The ski room is easily accessed and very convenient, plenty of storage space.

Situated between a 5 and 10 minute walk from the village means that you are away from the noise of the center but only a very short distance from the restaurants and bars, there is an excellent free bus service which runs past the hotel every 10 minutes – the bus stop is only a 2 minute walk away and great for getting to the ski lifts in the morning or into town in the evenings.

The breakfast is excellent; the ladies that run the breakfast and the cleaning service are very friendly and always very happy to help.

Overall a great stay and we will be back.

Fantastic service from all the friendly staff, super tasty food and a convenient location a few mins walk outside of Val. Our room was small but tidy with a comfortable bed.

Definitely eat there for dinner!

Overall very pleasant and peaceful stay. Cheapest hotel I could find in Val (still expensive!) but a convenient and pleasant stay. About a 10 minute walk from central Val but free bus service makes it easy.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
"The Avancher spirit remains in a brand new setting. Built more than 60 years ago, the Avancher Hotel has completely been rebuilt during Summer 2017. Frédéric Monneret and his team have managed to reconcile the warm and friendly atmosphere of this historic cottage with the comfort of a hotel of today. The 37 rooms from 24 to 61 m² have got all the equipment for a cozy stay: king size bed, large flat screen TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, bath, refrigerator, safe, kettle... Nothing has been forgotten, a renowned restaurant where we kept the same recipe: a gourmet cuisine with fresh and local products. A bar with two atmospheres: wine bar on one side, lounge and fireplace on the other side. A spa with a Jacuzzi, 2 Saunas, a Hammam and a massage room, all with a breathtaking view of the mythical Bellevarde Olympic face, a children's playroom, a covered parking area with a Tesla charger located in the basement of the hotel. A 5 minutes’ walk from the center of the resort and 50 m from the free bus stop, you can enjoy the animations of the resort without undergoing its noise. In addition, you will return directly skis to the feet to the hotel. Finally, Frédéric and his team know how to make your life easier: they will organize your transfers or ski passes bookings.
