“It was OK”
Reviewed 27 January 2013

I am a bit suprised to see the very poor reviews. It was Ok. The room was small and dark, and breakfast was a bit of a jumble - e.g. milk miles away from cereal, butter along way from toast etc, but it was clean and efficient and I thought that the staff were friendly and helpful.

You can forgive a lot about a ski hotel as long as it is well located, and this one is perfect - right next to the slopes and just around the corner from the centre of town.

If the food and drinks are expensive, then eat and drink somewhere else - that's what we did, and there is plenty of choice just down the road.

Don't miss Dickies tea bar (a 10 minute walk) if you are in to clubbing. It doesn't get going until well after 12.00, and then you won't want to leave.

Great proximity to the slopes, but food is very average and attitude of the staff borders on unpleasant. Try to avoid at all costs. There are many nicer and better-value places to stay in val d'isere.

Just returned from a 6 day break with 5 friends. We all had the most amazing time. The hotel is in the most perfect position allowing you to ski and ski out.We stayed in 2 family room which were both very modern and of generous size. We found all the staff to be extremely accommodating. The food was of excellent quality and the sommelier were very helpful introducing us to local wines. All 6 of us will be returning to Le Brussels next season!

We stayed over New Year and were lucky to be in the Alps during the amazing snowfall at that time. The hotel is perfectly located - we had a great view over the slopes. The rooms are very small, however, and are not of four star quality. In fact, at this price level they are short of the expected standard (or at least would be anywhere other than a ski resort).

The restaurant is outstanding in terms of the quality of the food provided for adults but the children's options are extremely limited. It even proved beyond them to produce a pasta carbonara when it was clear thay had the ingredients to do so from the other dishes on the menu (i.e. other dishes included eggs, bacon and pasta). Given the calibre of the chefs and the prices being asked in the hotel generally, this should be well within the capbilites of the kitchen and the levels of service to be expected of a hotel such as this. Also, at lunch the hotel bends over backward to accomodate outside guests at the expense of residents. All public spaces were turned over to tables meaning there was no where for residents to sit, play cards/games etc (inclunding in the games area, from which we were evicted as more tables were set). This balance between pursuit of profit and satisfying your resident guests does not seem to be quite right yet.

It is impossible to generalise about the quality of the staff or service as it was deeply schizophrenic. Some members of the team were some of the best I ever come across in any hotel anywhere and others really weren't and were not of the calibre required by a hotel at this level.

It would be interesting to stay here for a short break out of high season - I suspect it would rate much better on many fronts.

This was our second visit to Brussels, and we have been in two other hotels in val before. We stayed in appartement 100, definitely a great family suite. The location could not be better, and it has its price off course, but it will give you maximum comfort during your stay. The staff is very helpfull and polite. Breakfast improved since our last stay, though they should urgently also improve the coffee at breakfast. Lunch and dinner are great. We woud recommend this hotel to friends.

Stayed for three nights on a short ski-ing break. Location superb. Accommodation and staff excellent. Restaurant wonderful. All in all a very good choice if you want to stay in Val D'Isere. Some previous reviewers do not think it is value for money - we disagree - you totally get what you pay for. A faultless welcoming hotel - highly recommended.

Stayed here during holiday high season. Location is tops, balconies nice. Ski room location very bad -- at bottom of steps inside that are heavily used for restroom traffic. Ski room itself VERY nice, all wood with comfy chairs and heated boot dryng racks. No locker, though, for skis... just open racks that could be key locked -- if you could convince the staff to give you a key. Room service erratic -- we had to ask several times to get bulb for bedside light, rooms not made up despite being out 6+ hours skiing, etc. Seemed like too much work, too little staff. Layout is weird -- you walk THROUGH an elevator to get from lobby to ski room, spa is off lobby (so walking in front of open doors with bathrobes, brrr!)
Had read a review panning the coffee machine before going, thought that was odd til we got there and experienced breakfast. At these prices, they have "select a cup" coffee machine right at the entrance to the diningroom, right in the doorway traffic path. IF you can convince the machine to work, and if the staff has remembered to put water in, you will be able to obtain a small amount of dreadful coffee that you can carry back to your table yourself -- along with your cream. Okay for a two-star, maybe.... Decor heavy and dark inside, based largely on wine bottles large and small... alright for dinner, but a bit much at breakfast.
The fee for parking came as a shock, too -- 25 euros a day! More than twice the fee of the in-town garage -- which is likely where they put it, anyway.
All in all, there is much better value for the money to be had in Val. Try the Christiania or the Savoyard -- both are better in terms of service, ambiance, and value, even though they lack the Brussels trump location.
