There are two things you need to accept when staying at the moris. 1) The Noise from the bar downstairs (by the end of the second day it doesn't really bother you, and given the fact that you dont need to put you coat on and get cold after dinner to go find a good drink and music its not all that bad) and 2) Its very basic. Once your past that you#ll have a great time. The location is perfect, less than 5 mins form the Solaise and Belvadere lifts and just a stroll away from the town.

Yes its basic but it was a week full of fun and laughter. I travelled by myself and was alittle scared but it turned out i was amoungst many whi had decided to try the morris by themselves. Many of them had been before and loved it so much that they keep going back. Dinner is nothing special but its good hearty food, well prepared and the hosts make you laugh all night long. The fact that you have to share a table with 8 = 12 people means you fast make new friends.

The ski hosting is a real bonus, especially if you are new to the Espace Killy and once again is another place to make friends.

I was worried by reviews on this site that complained about the cleanliness. Its not all that bad, the rooms are a little tired (but that adds charachter) but they were cleanned daily. Yes by the end of the week the bathrooms did smell a bit but i have stayed in worse!

If your looking for a restful week of luxury the morris is not for you. If you want a fun packed week, with lots of laughs and dont mind a little noise the morris is perfect!

I stayed at Chalethotel moris last week of feb 2010. Huge mistake.
The hotel is unbelievable tired, shabby and dirty, communial bathrooms are disgusting, water is cold and the staff a bunch of hungover students. Worst of all, it is situated over the resorts premier rock music venue. You will be kept up till 2am by poor versions or guns n roses hits etc. It is a rip off and mark warner are taking the mick.

Went there for New Years and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The Moris has a great atmosphere, an unbeatable location and a warm, friendly service. It's loud to say the least with live music nearly every night in the pub downstairs - admittedly this would be a big deterrant for some but if you're after a lively apres scene coupled with great ski access and are not too bothered about the somewhat basic decor, I'd recommend it.

It's certainly not for everyone though. They are a couple of negative reviews on here and I can only assume that they were misild the Moris and were expecting something much grander. If this is the case, i can understand there dissapointment. Few of the rooms are ensuite and are all basic. You get 4 walls and a bed and not much else. Others have commented on the lack of cleanliness, all I can say is that for my stay the rooms and indeed the whole hotel was kept spotless throughout my stay with the chalet staff doing a sterling job. The staff were not only efficient but also charming and friendly. The food wasn't Michelin star standard but was hearty, plentiful and well presented. The wine was perfectly gluggable but nothing special. I find it hard to believe that some people expect much more from a 2* star establishment.

I met several guests who had been coming to the Moris for the last 20 years! This says it all as far as I'm concerened.

The ski hosting service offered a safe, sociable way to explore the Espace Killy. You can do this everyday, not at all or whenever you fancy. Groups are provided for leisurely skiers, intermediates and advanced. The hosts were a good bunch and great company on the mountain.

All in all, if you're game for a laugh and want a no frills hotel with a prime location in Val, the Moris is the place for you. If you're looking for the lap of luxury and a peaceful break, it certainly isn't. Horses for courses as they say.

Just back from a stay at the Moris and had a really good time.
The food was excellent as were the staff in the hotel, all very helpful.
Had no problem with the hot water at all so guess other people were just unlucky.
Good mix of other people in the hotel and would highly recommend it to the over 35's looking for somewhere to stay in Val.

I echo the previous reviewer's comments about the tired accommodation but the great location wins you over - 5 mins walk to The Solaise lifts and bus to go to La Fornier, ski hire next door, bustling town and Tuesdya night Torch display (on slopes). The chalet definitely needs a 'deep clean' as the shared bathrooms and loos are tired and the floors need better cleaning attention behind doors and in the nooks and crannies. A bug swept through the chalet (luckily a few of us didn't get it) and I think these shared conveniences probably contributed to this. Eventually, the hotel manager put a notice up when about half visitors had contracted it! The food and wine was varied and tasty. Most staff were pleasant and one ski host was excellent the other had no social skills and forgot lift passes and gave out poor meeting place instructions. It often got in the way of her day out skiing when her family members turned up, too! Simple/cheap tips for the hotel - clean table cloths in dining areas, clean plates at afternoon tea, cafetieres and little tea pots for tea and coffee, pepper mills on table. Rooms - glasses, radios, TV ( and toilets!) Reception area could be more welcoming- brighter lights and more professional maps and posters- look like school children have done them! Saying that I would return to Va d'Isere and Mark Warner for the skiing and ski hosting but carry 'Flash' wipes and Imodium!

I have just returned from a week skiing in France staying at the "Hotel" Moris. I use the term hotel losely - it's more like a hostel for the homeless - though not as nice.

I stayed at the Moris 4 years ago and so was well acquainted with it's quirky "charm." I was not expecting luxury - but it would appear that the hotel has not been cleaned or had any maintenance done to it since my last visit.

The first thing that hits you about the Moris is the smell in the corridors - a kind of hospital, meets school dinners smell - mixed in with some farts and mould. The next thing you notice is that there is never any hot water (unless you have a shower at about 1pm - not terribly useful if you are there to ski). The next joyous discovery is that the food is cold. I did not have a single hot meal there in my week's stay. (oh and the radiator in the bathroom on the 3rd floor doesn't work - nice when you come back in from temepratures of -20 degrees..)

I appreciate that the Moris is not an indulgence destination and seeks to serve people looking for an unpretentious ski hotel and a jolly time without kids around. But it is totally unacceptable not to provide the basics that ANY ski hotel requires - hot water, hot food and cleanliness. Especially when Mark Warner are charging £1,000 for a week at New Year.

The staff there are all very pleasant and some of the ski hosts are good but they students attempting to do a professional job and they are mostly too young, too inexperienced and not well enough managed.

MW are totally and utterly taking the pi** with the Moris. There is no other way to put it.

I will not be taking another Mark Warner holiday as I feel completely ripped off after my last experience. Actually I would like to return and make a funny documentary about what a dump it is but as they have not invented smell -o-vision as yet I'm afraid no film could do it justice....
