Auberge Saint-Hubert
Ranked #23 of 39 Hotels in Val d'Isere
Reviewed 24 April 2014

We stayed at this hotel for a week in April, rather large group under 4 different bookings with lots of children. This is centrally located and very clean hotel, the towels and bed linen were spotless and the robes/slippers were provided as well (hotel has a sauna but we didn’t use it). We found beds were very comfortable with spare blankets/pillows provided. It’s just a short walk to the ski lifts and all the bars/restaurants are right at your doorstep. Rooms are rather small, even for Val d'Isere, and bathrooms are tiny too, but nicely decorated and had everything we needed. Our room was under the roof rafters above the bar entrance which meant you had to crouch down to get in/out of bed and to get to the drawers. Also it could be a bit nosy at night if your room is facing the main street. The bar in the basement is rather nice and not too expensive.
Ski room is far too small and inadequately equipped and therefore quickly becomes a mess with falling down skies and poles and some of the boot driers didn't work.
Check your bills carefully at the check-out as we were charged for breakfast we didn't have - an additional €840 on three rooms! The patisserie next door opens early and is great for breakfast (and half the price of the hotel's breakfast!), you can sit in or take away. Nearest supermarket is just round the corner.
In general we had good experience, staff were friendly and helpful. I would say it’s a nice enough 3* hotel, although the plank on their front door shows 4* and its advertised as 4*on the websites.

Room Tip: Ask for a rear facing room if you have kids for less noise.

We stayed here 1st march 2014 and was immediately upgraded to a better room at no extra charge.
Rooms were clean and well very maintained.
Food was amazing and the staff were very attentive.
We will be going back here next year and it was the food that swung it ... great steaks, lobster and deserts and even a huge melting cheese wheel at your table if you like.
Overall very happy with our stay...
See ya next year...!

Room Tip: Try Le Petite Danois just round the corner for great Apres Ski bands .. !

Have stayed at this hotel a few times when I just need somewhere for a couple of nights. Rooms not huge but very comfortable. Friendly service and great location as in the centre of town. It has a small ski room which is handy. Did not have the breakfast but one of my friends in our group did and said it was ok.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for a week of skiing in February 2014.

Let's cover the weaker points first:

The rooms aren't huge (it's a ski resort and one isn't paying thousands a night...and we're hardly the smallest couple - what does one expect)? The rooms are, however very comfortable and nicely appointed.

The hotel has no lift. This was made very clear when we booked and the stairs are hardly challenging...especially when one's here for the skiing. Look at the positive; it gives you the chance to stretch your legs going to and from food / wine!

This is one of the nicest week's skiing my girlfriend and I have had and the hotel played no small part.

The staff were extremely friendly, very accommodating and took great effort to ensure that everything was perfect. They succeeded and their care was greatly appreciated.

I fully intend to return. Hopefully soon!

I LOVE Val D'Isere as a resort & ski area. Grate shops, grate restaurants & grate nightlife.

Stayed here Jan 2014 and loved it. Val D'Isere to me simply sums up why I board. It is a very pretty town, very gud ski area and a grate crowd who come here. The ski area is for the more advanced thats a dead cert and my girlfriend loves it also as a skiier & she wants to learn to board now after this trip! (liking that!)

The Auberge St. Hubert is a great hotel and my room was beautiful. The service from every member of staff couldnt have been better. The hotel is well located and very nice. The food was superb and the holiday was well worth every penny. I booked this thru Crystal Ski and am delighted I chose to stay here as it was perfect.

I will be back!

Lovely feel to this place - a civilised country style restaurant amongst ranks of noisy city-slick competitors. Lots of French customers (always a good sign), not a Hooray Henry or Henrietta in sight (thank god). Pleasant unhurried service, good traditional food.

13 of us booked a table at this restaurant for an evening meal. From start to finish we received nothing but slow inefficient service, bad manners and overpriced food. On arrival we walked past the lobster tank and noticed one of them was dead. Needless to say, we all opted out of this. The waitress handed out 4 menus to the whole table, when we asked her for more she rudely informed us they had none, so were left to guess what was on offer.
Half the table only were offered drinks, the rest of us had to ask.
Although some of the starters were average the rest were tasteless and bland at best, considering the foie gras is a French speciality and was priced at €19 it had no flavour, was unappetising and was the most disappointing of all the starters. We had booked for 13 people to have hot plates but when we got there were told that they did not have enough to accommodate us, we then had to re-organise seating arrangements.
When the main course came, two of the orders were incorrect, when we informed the waitress she was extremely rude, ripping up her note pad and storming off. When eventually we all received the correct orders the hot plates were undersized portions, each priced at €35pp. The condiments, sides and seasoning were placed at opposite ends of the table and the waiting staff did not communicate so it was the end of the meal before anyone realised they hadn't had the option of both.
We were then not offered desert and the bill just handed to us as soon as we had finished the main. We would describe the overall experience as poor and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
