“Jazz a Vienne-Great music”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Went over for a couple of the nights of Jazz a Vienne. Ibrahim Maalouf played in one of those nights. Blew me away.
Bring a cushion/pillow, this is stone sitting. I think is best to be in the middle to upper sections; a better view and definitely better acoustics.

“A place to listen to music”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

Having been partially rained out on our last visit in 2013, we were anxious to experience a full concert during our visit this year; we were not disappointed on two nights despite light rain falling during the first night. The setting is fascinating - we look forward to future visits when the weather is even better.

“Really Roman.”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

Mid summer June 2011 sun sky high few hours before the opening of the famous Jazz a Vienne...a small town with a massive past history
I had to see this theater from before otherwise...i could only see Sir Tom Jones opening the festival and taken away by his voice.
Yes one of the most beautiful Roman Theaters carved in the hill with the town at his steps...magnificent acoustic with now capacity 9000 sits. At the old times 11000 to 13000 standing.
Buid in the early Roman Gaul era.....worth to visit. I will.

“Another Stop on the River Boat Cruise”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

This was a large Roman city in the first century BC thus just about anywhere they do a building modification they dig up ruins. This is a very picturesque location and I am sure my narrative is not doing it any justice. This town is surrounded by steep hills and a large Roman theater which once held 13,000 spectators. The main square has a very intact 20 BC Roman temple in the middle of the town (something like a smaller version of the Pantheon in Rome). The reason the temple is so intact today is that in the middle ages the Christens turned it into a church by filling in the spaces between the columns with dirt, thus when they excavated the structure to return it to Roman appearance, they found everything (major structure) was neatly preserved.
