I had been to nude baths once before in Moscow and enjoyed it and was eager to try Friedrichsbad. The only way my husband would agree to go was if we went on co-ed night, but it wasn't nearly as awkward or uncomfortable as one might think. It was actually quite fun and everyone seemed to forget about the nudity after awhile. The entire experience is extremely clean, even my by germophobic standards, and very relaxing. You go through various steps of bathing, steaming, soaking, and relaxing mostly in silence. Even though the program is clearly laid out for guests, you are mostly free to enjoy the steps you want and skip the rest (I opted out of the coldest pool at the end beyond putting my feet in). My favorite part was steaming in the oldest natural mineral steam room still in existence. I wasn't nuts about the face up part of the soap massage (although the attendant was very polite and professional), but my skin was insanely soft afterward! We went on the 3.5 hour pass that included the soap massage and found that to be more than enough time to relax. Everything you need is provided (including shower shoes which are required for the slippery areas) but if you prefer to wear shoes at every step, just bring your own flip flips. I know it sounds daunting to Americans since we don't have nude beaches or anything, but it really is a fun and interesting experience.

This is a wonderful experience. It's therapy for body and soul. It takes about three hours and cost's € 35 including soap massage to complete the spa's program. It's nude bathing for both sexes. Don't be shy, people are too busy enjoying the baths to be self conscious.
You will feel rejuvenated when you enter the meditation room where you will be wrapped up like a mummy for thirty minutes.

This is a spa that includes 17 steps- all nude (I went on Saturday which is one of their non co-ed days). It is at first odd to feel comfortable completely naked, but since everyone else is it is easy to get relaxed. The steps go from very hot steam rooms and end with a very quick dip in a freezing cold pool. Each step is numbered and provides a time frame in minutes. I opted for the 35 euro option which included a nice scrub brush massage. I was somewhat disappointed as the massage was advertised as being longer, but ended up being less than five minutes. Regardless the spa itself was beautiful and a well worth it experience. Be aware that the women's side on the non co-ed days has rooms that allow for about three steps to be done only with women, but there is an option to do those steps in a co-ed setting (which I believe the men have to do). One of these co-ed steps is a dip in a luke-warm pool that is underneath the stunning main dome of the building- so I would suggesting taking the plunge and go co-ed for that step just to see the dome!

The spa has beautiful locker rooms that provide lockers and hairdryers in case you are going out to dinner or on the town afterwards.

Being conservative, we quickly adapted to the unisex environment and the towel was forever gone... Great value, unique and incredibly relaxing. Five stars from me! Tip: watch the video on their website and it will assist you in understanding the various stations and what is expected of you (there are rules!). Ensure you have plenty of time for station 16, a snooze is in order!

As you undoubtedly read in other reviews, this experience is completely in the nude. If you have hangups with nudity then don't go. We went on a mixed night, where men and women do all of the stages together. This is definitely the way to go with your spouse/significant other so you can experience it together. Check the schedule to know which nights are separate and which are co-ed. There are all ages, shapes, and sizes so you really don't pay any attention and quite frankly forget that you're nude. The 17 stages are marked and you just follow the signs from room to room. This was one of the most relaxing experiences we've had -- especially being swaddled at the end and practically falling asleep. We opted not to do the scrub and cream massage, and still had a great experience. The baths are very clean and the architecture is wonderful --- quite a treat.
