“Great!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

Great place to stay, right in the centre of town and full of character. The staff were exceptional; really helpful and polite and nothing was too much trouble. We had the 2 bedroom apartment at the back - didn't get to look out at the Cathedral but on the plus side, the sound of the bells at 0600 hrs was much quieter! Great base to explore the town and sample the wonderful food/beer. A typically German experience and one we would happily repeat. Free WiFi.

we stayed in Hotel Rappen for one night this march, we loved the this hotel, the location was amazing, and it happened that we were there during the town festival and we absolutely loved every minute of it.
little place, nice and for sure tick the boxes just do not expect any luxury in this part of the world

Room Tip: choose a room that overlook the church

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2013

We stayed for 2 nights in December. We were not in the main hotel, but rather, in a 2 bedroom suite with a separate entrance around the back side of the building. It is located up one level just above the breakfast room. We missed out on the charm of the main hotel which faces the Muensterplatz as we had a view of the department store and alleyway behind.

I can't comment on the rooms in the main hotel, but this suite was a little dated and had somewhat of a 1970s feel. That said, the amount of space was great, and could easily accommodate 4 or 5 people, and the amenities were fine. The wifi was also pretty weak in this room, though the signal might be stronger in the main hotel.

The staff were friendly and they serve a very nice breakfast at the hotel.

As mentioned in a few other reviews, the Muenster bells that chime every hour are quite loud in the rooms, though there's not much the hotel can do about that! Otherwise, the location is perfect. There's a market on the square every day and the hotel is within easy walking distance of everything within the old town, including the cable car which goes up to the Schlossberg for a nice view of the city and walking trails around the mountain. It's also easy walking distance to parking if you arrive by car (which we did).

Cute hotel in a great location with lovely views of the cathedral. Clean and comfy. 6 AM church bells are a bit unwelcome after a night out on the town, but that's not the hotel's fault, and simply comes with the location. Very friendly service and a delicious breakfast spread. Would happily return.

We stayed for one night in June and really wished we had booked for longer. A very friendly welcome and a delightful room overlooking the square. Breakfast was traditional, very good coffee and we really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We very much enjoyed the white asparagus and can thoroughly recommend the restaurant for both lunch and dinner. We were so happy with our experience we have already booked for next year, this time for three nights.

The hotel is on the Muensterplatz , center of the Old City an excellent location for sightseeing . We stayed for 2 nights, mid-week & this was the most expensive hotel of our entire 3 week tour in Germany. (139.00 Euro)

Our room faced the Cathedral where wonderful but loud bells sound hourly. There is a market every day ( fabulous) but they begin to set up at 6AM. Both nights after midnight there were a few noisy partiers whose voices echoed off the square. With windows closed sounds were muffled but the room might be stuffy in warm weather. If you like quiet nights this is not the hotel for you..

The elevator is very small but there is one! Our room was extremely clean, beds comfortable, a couple armchairs and a small table completed the furnishings. Bathroom was very small . The Wi-Fi was erratic with a weak signal on the second floor. 4 English TV Channels ( great for my news addicted husband!)

Breakfast was excellent with many choices , coffee very good! Staff were all helpful and pleasant. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant for other meals.
