The food was really good, so was the location and general atmosphere of this place facing the cathedral. We very much enjoyed our time. When we asked for the bill, the waitress (whose full name and surname were on the bill...) asked if we wanted to add a tip. We declined thinking if want to we can always leave change, like we do back home.. She informed us that service is not included... We thought her behavior was rude. We live in Switzerland and tips are not mandatory, only if you are pleased with the service. Waiters do not rely on tips for their base income and it is bad manners to ask a client for it. I had heard that it is the same in Germany, which an internet search confirmed. I think it is a pity some waiters butcher hospitality and rules of service for a few extra euros. I read about similar misguidance with the service gratuity in Berlin, happening to foreigners. A nice place like this restaurant should have more professional waiters.
