“Very calm location.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 December 2013

We've stayed here for 6 nights. Very good location for traveling by car. It close to a highway and about 5 minutes from a tramway station.
The breakfast is simple. The Wi-Fi connection was problematic and didn't work in one room of our apartments. The pillows were inconvenient, but were substituted. There is no even minimarket in the vicinity and all restaurants are full up to zero room.
The staff is friendly and willing to help. Good clearness. There is no refrigerator in the room.
I'd recommend to stay there.

We chose this hotel for its location close to the motorway, so as not to have to negotiate traffic and parking in the center of town. The location turned out to be good not only for the car, but for us as well. It is located in a residential area, but with easy, efficient transportation to the center, and close to the river and parks. The room, and especially the bathroom are spacious and very pleasant. I was a bit disappointed to discover there was no minibar in it, as it is quite the standard in German hotels. However, as we were on the ground floor, we had access to the little lawn of the hotel with "our own" rose bush. The breakfast was big and various and the staff friendly and helpful.

All in all a very pleaseant stay.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms have access to a small garden.

We stayed at the apartment for three nights. It was quite big for a family of four, so we felt quite good there.

Breakfast was good and with lots of choices available. The staff people were kind and willing to help at all times.

It was easy to reach the old part of the town by tram, and it tooked only 5 minutes to get to the tram stop and another 5 minutes to get downtown.

There was free wifi, but in the apartment (second floor) the signal was no good, so my children had to go out of the room in order to connect better.

We would definitely go back to this hotel if we ever return to Freiburg!

Have stayed here for business - very easy to get everywhere in Freiburg... just a short walk to the #1 train to city center. The hotel is clean and roomy. The staff is cool - very hospitable and the food is authentic - some Bavarian style. The old restaurant is nice. There are great bike and running paths just out the back door that go along the old river. Good parking (but don't wait too long in the day... it fills up).

We've stayed here several times over the past 4 years. Each year we always have the same positive views: comfy bed, fair space in room for our purchases, nice clean bathroom with a shower that is actually a decent size, good breakfast with plenty of cold meats, cheese, jams etc.

Plus free parking which we thought balances the cost of the daily tram fare (9.50 for a 24 hour ticket for 5 people) with the tram a brisk 10 minute walk away. That tram incidentally passes a very nice cocktail bar (Brasil), so one is tempted to interrupt ones journey for a swift one!

On the negative it is very noisy with the passing traffic on an alegedly 30kph road. Buses, cars, tractors and trailers all thunder past and with no air con having open windows when it's 30+ is not fun.

Room Tip: Ask for their quietest room.... !

I travelled to Freiburg in October 2011 with my wife. Staying in Hirschengarten Hotel was definately a good choice. Although the location is not central, it was convenient once we had a rental car: the hotel is close to the Autobahn (A5), has free parking and easy access to the city center by public transport (tram station is just 5 minutes away by foot).
The rooms are simple but very clean and quiet. Breakfast is ok. But the staff was the hotel highlight: they were very helpful when we needed to solve some problems during our stay
in Freiburg.
