“an evening in Jaipur”
Reviewed 7 August 2013

we ordered Tandoori and was told that the waiting would be about 20 - 25 mins ! Not a prob for that and we waited patiently. Unfortunately when it finally arrives, the meat - lamb tandoori was too dry & tasteless. chicken tandoori too was just the same :( nothing special about the naans either ! Both garlic butter and cheese naan were dry ?! we ate them all and made no complain as we were so hungry ! Definitely not returning to this restaurant :(

“Disappointing”
Reviewed 24 February 2013

It can happen in any restaurant, but unfortunately it was to us and we won't be in a hurry to return. We made reservations for a busy Friday evening. After a long wait and very indifferent service, our meals arrived long after other people who had arrived after us had been served. The food for all three main courses were lukewarm and all tasted rather similar, i.e. bland. It was a very disappointing experience. I hope they get their act together. It didn't leave a very good impression.

“Good value, nice service and centrally located”
Reviewed 28 November 2012

I visit this place quite often, mainly because the food is tasty. I agree with the comments of other reviewers: it is not that spicy. But this is not uncommon in Indian restaurants located in "Western" cities: the owners purposefully "spice it down" because the clientele is not Indian, and is not used to hot food.

I pointed this out to the staff on my second visit, and they offered to bring me a small plate of curry sauce, which they spice up for me :) Since then, I have no problem with this.

The service is very friendly and helpful.

Their lunch menu is unbeatable and more than enough for big mid day appetites.

One last thing that I find very valuable: many German restaurants refuse to serve tap water, despite German tests showing that bottled water is of inferior quality compared to the tap water. Jaipur has no issues serving its customers better quality (tap) water.

The location is also great: right in the heart of Freiburg's old city (100 mts from Martinstor). One can either hop off the tram in Holzmarkt or in Bertoldsbrunnen.

“Good option for Indian food”
Reviewed 23 September 2012

It is always hard to please Indian person in Indian restaurant abroad. But this hotel could please us. Food was quite good ..we were 9 people and everybody ate till they were stomach full.
They didn’t have as many varieties as anyone would have in India but whatever was cooked was brilliant. Spices were not aggressive so anyone who is not used to eat spicy can also try the food.
We had some trouble finding the restaurant and I expect same would be the case for tourist. So please make sure you have exact address and exact directions from google maps before leaving the house.
One thing that we didn’t like was service. It could have been more coordinated and polite. Seating arrangement was quite flexible. They accommodated 9 people in the busy hours of the day.
All in all good food and average service.
