Stayed overnight at this hotel, very hospitable and welcoming owners. The room was comfortable and well furnished, a nice feature was a well stocked drinks cabinet on the floor outside operated on an "honesty" basis. Dinner in the beautifully decorated restaurant was superb, breakfast a substantial buffet. We will definitely visit again for a longer stay.
I was looking for a place that was somewhat centrally located in the BF but still reasonable to get to the stuttgart airport for an early flight... I chose freudenstadt. Not the most exciting or quaint little town but nice enough. And it has the largest marketplace in all of germany - not too much happening in it, though. The hotel was a short walk from the market and looked to be fairly close to the train station, too. Driving there is a piece of cake. The hotel itself was a mixture of good and great. The rooms were just ok - looks like they were remodeled about 30 years ago and never touched since. Bathrooms were ok - good size, shower was so-so. The people were nice - a little abrupt at times but nice. The shining star here is the restaurant. Wonderful food. Helpful staff. Good wine. Of the four hotels we stayed in for our 8day trip, this was definitely not our favorite but it was more than adequate and we were comfortable enough there.
The most courteous hosts and in the center of Fredenstadt. I was actually in town on business, and have to say that this place is lovely. The hostess at the front desk (the owner's wife) doesn't speak english and knows you don't speak german but will talk to you anyway.
Whatever she it saying, you can tell it is sweet and always makes me laugh. The food is great in here as is the beer of course. Order anything on the menu it is all good. The staff is so nice here, we asked for Black Forest cake one night and they didn't have it. So they went out and bought a whole cake for us to enjoy the next night (there were 4 of us) with the proprietor's own home made kirschwasser soaking the top (he poured 200+ ml on each piece of cake).The rooms are big with nice bathrooms, and good water and hot water. Not fancy or commercial, just nice regionally decorated rooms with comforable beds.
The windows swing or tilt open to enjoy the nice air of the region.
Parking is available nearby.Highly recommended, and you must see the amazing christmas manger scene the owner puts on in the bar - all miniatures and really amazing (nov-jan). The son is now the chef (the father was the original and has been on TV cooking shows in germany), and again the food is great, be sure to ask what they think you should have, as there are many specialties which might just be around a day.**** Great food, Great people, Great hotel.
