Herrenmuhle is a lovely, classy restaurant with a lovely romantic ambiance upstairs but very uncomfortable seating. The chairs were so small that it was uncomfortable for dining. The downstairs seemed more casual and was geared more for larger groups and the second floor had more of a date night type setting. We felt the menu was limited with choices like ox, venison, chicken, 2 fish choices, veal with an apricot sauce; just very unusual choices if you are not a meat eater. I chose the salmon and it layed in a wonderful butter sauce. My husband got the venison and he said it was pretty good. Of course, the portions were very small but we are not big eaters any more, so it was fine. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Would I come back? Probably not as there are so many wonderful places to eat in Heidelberg with better menus.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Friendly and efficient staff and a relaxed, romantic atmosphere. The menu was creative and the dishes well presented and delicious. The chef came to introduce himself and chat after the meal which made a pleasant end to a lovely dining experience.

Very nice restaurant at the end of the Hauptstrasse, just below the castle in the old town. Great dining room with old beams and nice atmosphere. Nice menu and choices. Great food, tasty and with the right amount. They can also do specials for kids on request. Too bad that the service was so slow, the waiters were smiley and efficient, but it seems that the kitchen is slow.

I was extremely impressed by the service and especially the outstanding quality of the food served to everyone I was with.

This is a restaurant that is well worth going to, and the passion of the owner Joachim Hess, is reflected in his menu and presentation of the excellent dishes he serves.

We were lucky to get a reservation for Saturday night when we called at 5:00. I suspect they do a single seating.

We were impressed with everything we ate. Excellent for food and great service.
