It was fun to see how diverse all the time periods of the castle’s constructions differed from one another. Destroyed during Napoleon’s time, the castle is still much standing and very beautiful. There is one restored building. Well worth the stop! Also great views of the town below.

This is a site you cannot afford to miss while visiting Heidelberg. The location above the city is great with nice views of the city, the Neckar river and surroundings. Get a train ticket all the way up to Konigsstuhl (it's only a bit extra) and enjoy the trip up the mountain in a quaint old cable car.

Old beautiful castle befitting of its ancient status. Its setting in this ancient city makes this castle a must visit. Autumn weather is just fantastic. The falling maple leaves glowing in their yellow golden hues.

Autumn scene sets within its realm,
Four seasons of hues in their calm;
Acknowledgment to our Creator His creation beauty,
Every mankind must abide in duty.

Must take the guided tour to go inside the castle & see the rooms etc with the story behind it . A walk in the gardens is recommended.

Came here from Frankfurt for a day, and it was really great. The Castle is large and impressive, and remarkably well preserved. You take a tram up and do a walking tour through several sections of the Castle - you are not forced to do a pre-planned tour, though some seemed to be available. In our case, we explored on our own and had a great time.
