The superior room was spacious, and while a little dated, was very comfortable and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The parking (P12) is reasonably close and well priced - you get a discount with the hotel. We went for the buffet breakfast, which was reasonable but would suggest trying a cafe instead.

Dear Banana_abroad,
Thank you very much for placing such a positive comment on our hotel and staff here on tripadvisor. We are glad you liked your stay with us. We offer two different breakfast types at the Holländer Hof: Our small business breakfast which is served at the table, created for those who do not want or cannot eat very much in the mornings, and our substantial breakfast buffet offering a large variety of cold and warm foods and beverages. We are looking forward to welcoming you again in the future. Your Holländer Hof Team Heidelberg

We were pleased to be given a room on the top floor, facing Neckar River. The room has a view of the old bridge gate. The room was clean, tidy and comfy. The tram to Heidelberg Castle is just a stroll away from the hotel. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but there are bakeries and shops outside where you can get nice food and a nice hot chocolate in the morning. The hotel doesn't have a car park on site but apparently they have an agreement with a car park nearby. We didn't get the details from the hotel prior to arrival so we paid extra to park elsewhere. I do recommend checking with the hotel if you are taking a car with you.

Dear raspberryinblue,
Thank you very much for taking the time to rate our hotel here on tripadvisor in such a positive way.
Due to our unique location directly in the heart of the historic Old Town which is also part of Heidelberg's traffic-calmed area and pedestrian zone we unfortunately cannot offer you a car park on site. However, as you also mentioned, we have an arrangement with a nearby public car park which offers discounted rates for our hotel guests. I do not know if you booked your room directly with us at the hotel or over a hotel booking system. As if you had placed your booking directly with us at the hotel we would have automatically included some information on our public car park arrangement in with your booking confirmation. We would be happy to welcome you again in the future. Your Holländer Hof Team Heidelberg

Just back from a weekend stay in Heidelburg, the Hollander Hof is a lovely Hotel in a fabulous location, just within the old town. Great view of the bridge and castle. The staff were extremely helpful, rooms and bathroom were well heated and spotless. This is a quality Hotel and we will not hesitate in returning, highly recommended.

Room Tip: I don't think anybody would be disappointed, whichever room they have.

This is a classic European style hotel. Contrast with the Crown Plaza in Heidelberg which is more of an American-style. The rooms will be small by US standards but that is part of the charm, right? Staff is friendly and I had a fantastic room on the top floor looking out towards the Alte Brucke. For sightseeing, dining, and exploring, the location could not be more perfect.

Parking is available at the Kornmarkt garage for a discounted rate. This is a few blocks away but like all walks in Heidelberg it is lovely.

My overall feeling is that for a business trip based in HD that requires a car, I chose the Crown Plaza. For a more leisurely trip or a couples trip I would chose Hollander Hof.

Dear kpedad,
Thank you very much for rating our hotel in such a positve way!
Due to being a landmark historic building in the heart of Heidelberg's Old Town dating back to 1745 it is true that some of our rooms may be small compared to US standards. We totally agree with your comment that this is part of the Old Town's and the Holländer Hof's charm as every room with us is different in size and style. Great to read that you enjoyed your stay and we are looking forward to welcoming you again soon! Your Holländer Hof Team Heidelberg

We travelled in a team to a conference at the Congress house down the street from the Hollander Hof. It is quite a convenient location for access to the Christmas markets shops, the castle and Philosopher's way. Do request a room overlooking the river as it is quite lovely. Breakfast at the hotel is a more than adequate selection of breads, cheese, meats, ham and sausage. Service is good. We had collegues who stayed a nearby accomodations and weren't as satisfied with their hotel as we were. The hotel is a quick taxi ride to the train station, there is no need for a car whilst staying in downtown Heidelberg. There is quite a choice of restaurants to select from and delectable cafes, bakeries etc.

Room Tip: River view rooms.

We love to stay when possible in non chain places. We could not of asked for a nicer places, although are room had a view on an ally it also had a slight view of the Castle. When you walked out the front door you were in downtown Heidelberg, no auto needed everything right there. We went at Christmas and the market was wonderful. If you want to go stay in a comfortable downtown location this would be the place. Clean, pleasant employees very helpful, great views and lots of things to see.
