Kulturbrauerei Heidelberg Aktiengesellschaft used to be a brewery but they transformed part of it into a hotel. ( & there's still a working brewery )

Great location to hit the tram up to the Castle or to walk around the Old Town & it's especially close to the waterfront where the famous Old Bridge is

Rooms were quiet which was a surprise, given our room directly faced the brewery / bar that was full of people late into the night. Beds were comfy. Nice water pressure

There's an elevator for those schlepping heavy bags or who can't deal well w/ stairs

We were directed towards a special parking lot for hotel guests as street parking is next-to-impossible to acquire

Only minor complaint was that the room was super hot ....but we didn't think to open a window so shame on us. Also come to find out the next morning that they had had the heat turned on.....so mystery solved!

Breakfast the next morning was a nice layout of breads & rolls, cereals, sliced meats & cheeses & they will make espresso drinks to-order. Their lattes were nice & creamy!

Free wifi!

Nice hotel (with parking, very important in Heidelberg) with friendly staff. It's quite close to the river but the biggest reason we chose this location was because they were quite close to concert venue we were going to later that evening.

That said, it was clean, comfortable and the staff really do go all out to make your stay comfortable.

Great little guest house right in the heart of old town. The rooms are spacious, clean and the staff is amazing. This hotel is located on a residental area which can be confusing when you first are trying to drive there but you can drive a car there and park in the parking lot across (get the key from reception). I didn't care for breakfast and I thought there were better options in town.

We stopped in for good beer and a snack. We ended up with great beer and and great food. I will be back here again and recommend it as a great place in Heidelberg for great beer and food. Lots of people enjoying the place with us which kept it lively. Most of the tables inside are long,so plan on sharing with your new friends!

Plus side:
I stayed in room 29, which is a lovely bright double room. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. There is a mini-bar fridge, so one can buy drinks outside and keep chilled. I had a great double room that overlooked the brewery entrance. The hotel is very close from the river and the old bridge.

Downside:
The hotel can really offer free tea and ordinary coffee for hotel guests, or at least get kettles for each room. EUR10 is too expensive for the breakfast. No hot options, just cold meat, cheese, bread, yoghurt, muesli ect.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 29, which has a view of the hotel entrance and restaurant

I found the restaurant overpriced and the service lacking. The restaurant required our group to pre-order our food with no apparent result. The waitress still took everyone's order prolonging the wait for our meal. I was denied a regular glass of water--the true mark of a poorly-run establishment. The German menu contained a bratwurst and sauerkraut selection that did not appear on the English menu.

- They initially quoted €220 for a "suite". As a regular visitor to Germany, I can confedently say that you should get something very decent for that outside big business centres.

Furniture was cheap and tatty. televisions were old "tube" TVs not flatscreen. Low quality cosmetics in the bathroom. Quality bore no relation to the price. The place did not feel luxurious - it was clean just lacked any nice touches. After minimal negotiation they reduced to €150. This was suite 30. I defy the management to compare with other hotels in Heidelberg and say this is reasonable. Oh and the heating in the living area was not working. So we paid for a suite but half the area was freezing (they provided a small heater but not sufficient).
- Very little service - nobody really provided much help with luggage or showed us to our room. We had an 8 month old baby with us.
- This is purely opinion but I felt there was a pervasive of culture of getting by/doing enough but not really going the extra mile tinged with a mild hostility towards guests. The restaurant is good and some of the rooms looked ok but personally i think there are better places in town (I know this for a fact as I checked out and went to one!). In my opinion, one to avoid.

Room Tip: NOT Suite 30. (I should say "Suite" 30)
