The hotel is charming. I appreciated the large comfortable room, free fast wifi, modern bathroom with spacious shower, and quietness of the room overlooking the Neckar. The staff are polite and efficient. The breakfast has excellent variety and the staff helpful. The lobby is open 24 hours: when not attended, a quick phone call brings the staff member to the desk promptly. The hotel is a short walk to the Old Town. Check out time is noon, which is a welcome late hour to have a last romp about town then freshen up before leaving.

Large double room with luxury bathroom. Views of the river Neckar from the room. Breakfast good. Staff English speaking, friendly and helpful. Extra charge for car parking. Hotel easy to find when arriving by car. Old town a short walk across from the hotel.

visiting a well known clinic in HD I chose this hotel out of convenience. never ever did I regret to go there....friendly staff, great rooms, easy does it best. Breakfast was just right, service is swift and correct. Reception staff is so well informed about HD, always helpful and at hand. Dont miss the small balcony in the lounge....sun bathing with a beer and a nap is great. Only draw back is....they have a good amount of guests consulting the very nearby Atos Clinic...steps to the reception could be a real hinderance. Overall, not the cheapest place in HD, BUT well worth your money. A special remark of gratitude to the reception staff, breakfast lady and housekeeping: Well Done...and I have no hesitation to recommend this fine hotel.......tip: book your parking in advance...

Room tip: i had a nice double room with balcony BUT noisy from the road...still, great stay

Whether you find this review to be encouraging or discouraging will depend on your priorities.

Pro's:

With the exception of the very limited cereals (two types of dry muesli, cornflakes and sugar puffs), the cold breakfast buffet is excellent with meats, cheeses, smoked salmon and trout, a wide variety of breads and a greengrocer's worth of fruit.

The hotel is located just west of the end of Hauptstrasse, the cobbled street initially lined with high-street shops and then, as you get further into 'Old Town', with restaurants and tourist shops.

If pre-booked with the hotel, there is guest parking at €12 per night. If you are driving to Heidelberg, as we were, this is a big plus.

Our bathroom was very spacious and bright with a large walk-in shower.

Cons:

The mattress could just as well have been hewn from rock and the pillows had seen better days many years ago - think "foam with lumps".

There are no room safes which is disconcerting as there also appears to be no system for checking when handing out room keys......and this is very much a city centre hotel.

The wifi is very variable (at least in our first floor room) and at times surfing was like watching a kettle boil. The hotel data says that there is also LAN connectivity for guests and, indeed, under the desk there is an Ethernet outlet. It did not, however, appear to be functioning and unfortunately at weekends, no IT support is available at the hotel

Room tip: We requested a quiet room and so looked out the back with no "view". I suspect that a river view would come with the downside of noise.

Great location and superb view.
One side with river view, and other side with old town view. The location is great, easy to access the city center. Nice staff (named Eugie), the staff were very helpful and friendly, good food for breakfast. Reasonable price. Suggest to stay.
