“German-American burgers taste good”
Reviewed 15 May 2013

A nice place to go dining. The building is unusual, inspired in the true style of Rhode Island, and has a wonderful little garden outside with a huge, ancient and wonderful tree with tables under it, so in summer you can eat there your hamburger in an impressing atmosphere, under a tree full of leaves, out of the chaos. Strange and lovely!
The food is good: they don't want their burgers to be called "fast food" because they prepare them accurately and are glad if you taste them with ease and slowly. So take your time... but carefull, because they are often full, so it is better to reserve a table.
You can see the hamburgers cooking behind the bar, and choose among a large variety (even too many types... it's difficult to choose!): normal-sized or large-sized, with meat (chiken, beef, or even bison!!) or cheese, spicy or not. Many beverages. Always included in the dish the portion of french fries or pommes with or without mayonnaise and ketchup.
People are nice and smiling, and speak English too. Atmosphere quiet and relaxed.
The prices are not as cheap as those of the famous fast food, but if you choose a regular burger with a little-sized drink, you will eat a high-quality American dinner for about 12 euros. Quality and atmosphere deserves to be tried at least once.

“Favorite curger in Karlsruhe”
Reviewed 4 May 2012

This is mine and my husband's favorite hamburger place to eat in Karlsruhe. The staff is friendly, the food is great and the location is very nice, too. The burgers are not ginormous that you can't walk after eating, but it is a large portion so you won't be disappointed. We are not americans and we can't say if the diner stays true to the American tradition, but from what we've seen here in Germany, it can't get any better than this.

Pros: it's quiet in there if you seat in the attached sitting are or outside in the Summer, and the staff is great.

Cons: there isn't much room for parking in front of it and you might have to park in a nearby street. I'd stay away from their milkshakes, I found them to be a little "watered" down.

“A Real Diner--in Germany”
Reviewed 23 November 2011

We went here because it was next to out hotel on the outskirts of Karlsruhe and we were hungry and though we would give it a try. First, this is a *real* diner building brought over from Rhode Island in the US according to the manager, who I spoke with. A building has been added for additional seating behind (and attached to) the diner itself. There is outside seating which we used as it was a hot day in August. The menu features "American style" burgers, and they were quite good. I had a bison burger and my wife had a regualr burger. The meals were not exactly as you might find them in the US (as Germans like to eat their french fries with mayo, for one example) but were pretty close. Portions were large. Even American beers were available, though why someone would want to orerd and American beer in Germany is beyond me. We were satisfied with our meal and would recommend this to others. It's about as close as you will get to the US in Germany--and seening how another culture interprets yours was entertaining.
