What can I say? I have never stayed in a hotel with such amazing customer service. We were on our way home from a skiing holiday with a loaded q7 and a roof box. We couldn't fit in their underground carpark and they went out of their way to help us. Even sending three guys to lift the top box off. Customer service far beyond what one would expect. Absolutely brilliant. If you stay in Karlsrhue you must stay here

Stayed here while on a Globus Tour of Europe. I can’t say much for the hotel because we arrived late and left early. But from what I did experience, it was quite good.

An excellent place for people who are overnighting in Karlsruhe and would like the comforts of a star class hotel.

The rooms are slightly bigger than what appears to be the European standard and the sleep quality is very good. Not much street noise and very comfortable beds. Decor is modern with a hint of luxury. House keeping added a pleasant touch by leaving packets of gummy bears – much needed sugar fix after a hard days touring.

The meals in their buffet area is excellent (breakfast and dinner) with plenty to choose from, all possessing the hearty goodness Germans are famous for.

All in all, I would recommend this hotel to couples, families and tour groups, if considering a place to overnight on your way to some other place. You will find yourself confortable and happy.

This hotel was recommended to us by German relatives and we stayed for two nights (5 & 6 October 2011). Whilst the reception staff was professional, the hotel will not be our first choice when visiting Karlsruhe again. We paid 250 Euros for room 305 which, by German standards, is reasonable. The room faces a very busy intersection and is rather small making movements by two people somewhat awkward at times. The bed is OK and the double glazed windows definitely keep any outside noise at bay. However, the main reasons for not giving better marks are the additional costs for WiFi (around 12 Euros) and a sliding scale for the breakfast selection (14-19 Euros). There are a number of cafes and bakeries nearby which open early and offer, in our view, better value overall. Newspapers (e.g. America Today, The Times and local broadsheets) are not complimentary.

The hotel is situated in a good location (within walking distance of the central business district) and appears to be genuinely busy. Its clientele comprising mainly business and sales people, as well as conference attendees, We were informed by a reliable source (non-staff) that rooms on weekends are probably cheaper than during the week. The reason being lower occupancy rates due to decreased business customers. Overall, we believe there is other, more cost effective accommodation available elsewhere near the city centre.

Otherwise, Karlsruhe is a significant regional centre and of historical interest. The Palace and its garden is worth a visit. Moreover, for judiciary buffs, Karlsruhe is also important. The town hosts two of the highest courts in Germany, the Federal Court of Justice of Germany (Bundesgerichtshof), the highest court of appeals in matters of civil law and criminal law, and the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany (Bundesverfassungsgericht).

Room Tip: Check room rates in advance (weekend stays may be cheaper). Prior to checking in, ask to see room...

Several reviews that I read about this hotel are not too positive. In my opinion, though, it is not all that bad. The price range may vary considerably, so it is worthwhile to "shop around" before making the actual reservation (my latest stay was around € 120).
The lobby / entrance indicates a certain "grandeur" that is not really reflected in the comfort of the rooms. Still, the rooms have everything that is needed, from coffee making to a full bath. Beds are comfortable, but the size of the rooms is relatively small. This makes staying in the room for more than just sleeping is not very inviting.
Internet is moderately priced - for European standard, that is! (€12.50/day), but the connection is lousy, with frequent stalls and drop-outs.
The restaurant has a reasonable choice, notably of regional specialties and the quality is not that bad, either. Also, wine pricing is very modest, and staff was very friendly.
All in all, not a bad hotel.

No surprises from an American hotel in Germany. Modern with air conditioning, indoor parking (17 Euro per day), and good food. There is not a gym. However, for 5 Euro per visit you can use the public gym across the street. Overall, one of the better hotels in Karlsruhe. With most German hotels, the rooms are small by American standards.
